Local art students make their mark on new show home for Camberwell

Posted 12 October 2016 by Keith Osborne

Camberwell's reputation as a home for artists is reflected in the contemporary content used in a brand new show apartment coming soon to the area...

Developer Family Mosaic has enlisted the assistance of students from Camberwell College of Arts in the decoration of a new show apartment, using a collection of their work on the walls of a property at its latest development in the area, Canvas.

With Camberwell enjoying major regeneration of its own, as well as the ‘ripple effect’ of the redevelopment of Elephant and Castle to the north, the launch of Canvas in October brings even more choice of new homes to London property seekers, with a choice of 17 one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments.

The artworks from the students complement the professional interior design from Wish London in the show home, which has been inspired by Camberwell’s artistic heritage and products available from a host of High Street names, such as John Lewis and Made.com, alongside individual designers such as Brighton-based Little Deer.

The decoration has been selected to best demonstrate the specification of the development, which includes handle-free kitchen units, integrated appliances, wood-effect flooring chic bathrooms and en suites. Prices for these Zone 2 properties start at £375,000.

Caroline Smith, managing director at Wish London comments; “Camberwell is an up-and-coming area so we wanted to add that level of luxury into the design with our choice of furniture and accessories. We have used touches of marble, gold and copper to add that level of sophistication to the design and we also have some really lovely pieces of furniture in soft walnut finishes. The stylish furniture promotes a sense of ‘bespoke nature’ to the design.”

“We feel the scheme is very current and fun with injections of colour which adds to the character of the design. With a lot of our inspiration coming from local art, we worked closely with Camberwell College of Arts to promote and support local artists by displaying some beautiful and dynamic pieces of artwork, which Family Mosaic was very keen for us to secure.”
