Keith OsborneWhatHouse? recently visited two of award-winning housebuilder Kebbell’s luxury developments in sought-after parts of Berkshire.
Berkshire is renowned for its desirable residential areas, often linked to some of its first-class facilities. Ascot and Newbury have their racecourses, Sunningdale has its prestige golf club, Sandhurst has its military academy, Windsor has its castle, park and Eton College, and the Thames Valley offers some exceptional riverside living. The mix of heritage, natural beauty and great transport connections has led to the county having a number of prime property hotspots.
Kebbell was recognised for its excellence at the WhatHouse? Awards 2019 and has continued building boutique high-end developments in Berkshire, combining location, design and specification to attract discerning house-hunters.

Our first stop was Osborne House on Charters Road, Sunningdale. The Charters estate is one of the top addresses in the village and is the choice of numerous celebrities, business tycoons and a smattering of international royalty. From this address, Sunningdale’s railway station, shops, restaurants and amenities are a short walk away.
Osborne House comprises just six three-bedroom apartments in an impressive gated three-storey building. To date, there has been a lot of interest from local downsizers (who sales and marketing director Andrea Fawell describes as the “active older” market) and some international buyers looking for a UK ‘base’ close to an excellent school for their children, with many of those nearby, and the benefit of Heathrow being just a 20-minute drive away.

It’s not far to the second development, Wintersbrooke, situated to the south-west of Sunninghill, on the way to Ascot. It is similar to Osborne House in many ways, being a gated collection of six apartments in a mansion-inspired, three-storey building with a communal garden.
There are two two-bedroom apartments and four others with an extra room that could be a comfortable third bedroom or spacious home office. With half the units already sold, the remainder offer layouts providing from 1,236 sq ft to 1,822 sq ft of living space, and the bonus of private outdoor space in the form of a balcony or terrace.
There’s an abundance of natural light and some notable design features, such as statement double doors linking the kitchen/breakfast room to the large living/dining room, and some curved corners to walls in the welcoming hallway. With other elements such as skirting boards and architraves, door furniture, lighting switches and power sockets, it all adds up to a very refined feel. The specification throughout is very similar to that at Osborne House.
The two largest bedrooms come with fitted Draks wardrobes and the master bedrooms also have a spacious en suite with standalone bath and walk-in shower. All six apartments have a guest shower room. There’s plenty of storage space around the home, and the three-bedroom properties come with a utility room fitted with the washing machine and tumble dryer, cupboards, worktops and their own sink, a great asset to keep the living space neat and decluttered.
The communal garden is secluded and nicely landscaped, perfect for enjoying time outside with neighbours and guests. There’s lift access to all floors in the building and peace-of-mind through secure gates, video entry system and intruder alarm. Each home has allocated parking and there’s addition space for visitors.
