Home of the Day – ‘The Worcester’, Storey Homes
The WhatHouse? team reports on our current favourite new build home for sale – today, it’s ‘The Worcester’, a three-bedroom house at De Montford Place, a development in Bedford from Storey Homes.
‘The Worcester’ is a house type currently available on adjoining Plot 122 (£335,000) and Plot 123 (£325,000). It offers family living set across two floors with a lounge on the ground floor that opens out onto a west-facing garden, a separate kitchen (with ‘extras’ such as a washer/dryer and dishwasher fitted as standard) and downstairs cloakroom. The upper floor hosts the master bedroom with en suite, two further bedrooms and a family bathroom. It all comes with a turfed garden and two private parking spaces.
To ease the buying process, Storey Homes offers Assisted Move and Help to Buy on these and other homes at De Montfort Place.
Sales and marketing director Heather Holl believes it is a great option for house-hunters who are now prioritising a comfortable place to work at home, thanks to its third bedroom. She said: “With normality on the horizon, there are certain elements of our day-to-day life that have changed forever. Life has become more home-based and there’s finally a useful role for our barely lived in spare bedrooms. Prior to this pandemic, the home office had fallen out of fashion, with buyers opting for study areas. However, times have changed and this rarely utilised spaced can now provide a working environment that is removed from the rest of the house.”
Also currently available, and with layouts which provide great flexibility, are several examples of ‘The Evesham’, a three-storey terrace townhouse with five bedrooms (two with en suite and dressing area), ranging in price from £515,000 to £525,000.
De Montfort Place offers communal gardens, tennis courts and a play area, and is just a stones’ throw away from Bedford town centre. There are a number of well-regarded schools, two acclaimed independent schools, the Bedford School and Bedford Modern School, and also boasts strong local state schools including the Sharnbrook Academy and St Thomas More Catholic School area.
The town is very well connected, with frequent fast train services into central London via Luton Airport, then on via Gatwick Airport to Brighton. Major roads bring the likes of Cambridge, Milton Keynes and Corby within easy reach too.
