Home of the Day – The ‘Byron’, Elan Homes

Posted 3 July 2020 by Keith Osborne

Our favourite new home for sale is the ‘Byron’ house type at Derwent Court in West Didsbury from Elan Homes…

The WhatHouse? team focuses on our current favourite new build home for sale – today, it’s a four-bedroom ‘Byron’ house type, the last property for sale at Derwent Court, a development in West Didsbury in Greater Manchester from Elan Homes.

For the many people now house-hunting to find somewhere to comfortably mix family life with working from home, the ‘Byron’ will be a serious option. It’s a semi-detached home set over three floors, with integral garage and offering 1,808 sq ft of living space. Along with a cloakroom and door to the garage from the hallway, the ground floor has the open-plan kitchen, dining and family room, which has units along one wall, an island basin/worktop and large bi-fold doors leading out onto the rear garden – a great way to ‘bring the outside in’, and letting in floods of light in any weather. The lounge is on the first floor, along with a master bedroom boasting a dressing area and en suite. The remaining three bedrooms and family bathroom are on the top floor. This final home for sale at this development is priced at £549,995.

The Byron floor plan

Marie Morris, sales director for Elan Homes in the North, notes that research by Dynata found that 74% of people in the UK want to work from home at least some of the time, with 15% want to make the switch from commuting to telecommuting permanently. “Whether you work from home permanently or occasionally, it’s important to have somewhere you can work without distraction,” she said. “The final home at Derwent Court has four bedrooms, but if you only need three and want a dedicated study you could use one of the top floor rooms as a workspace.

“Now more than ever homes are under pressure to perform with changing lifestyles and to evolve over time. The properties at Derwent Court are ideal as they have a spacious kitchen, dining and family room on the ground floor, with flexible space on the remaining floors. Our buyers have invented their own uses, from a nursery, a luxury dressing room, a gym or just an extra bedroom. And with a cloakroom, en-suite or bathroom on every floor, buyers can effortlessly reinvent them whenever they need to.”

Buyers can ask about Part Exchange and Elan’s own EasyMove scheme which enlists an independent agent to secure a buyer for the customer’s property, with the company paying the agent’s fees in full.

Derwent Court is open by appointment only, with social distancing measures in place. Find out more at www.elan-homes.co.uk.
