Act Now For Savings, Says Housebuilder In The North Of England
Homebuyers looking to buy in the North are set to enjoy the rewards of the change in Stamp Duty rules following the recent announcement, says WhatHouse? Housebuilder of the Year Barratt Developments.
Welcome savings on a new home have been made possible as there will be no Stamp Duty to pay on properties up to the value of £500,000 on sales taking place before 31 March 2021.
Local housebuilder Barratt Developments Yorkshire East and North East has welcomed the Stamp Duty cut and continues to encourage those in search of their first or family home to take advantage of these savings at its Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes developments across the region.
The Chocolate Works
David Wilson Homes’ The Chocolate Works development in York, offers a stunning selection of apartments and contemporary townhouses at its iconic location, on the former Terry’s Chocolate Factory site.
Couples and professionals looking to make their move to The Chocolate Works can enjoy a perfect location, adjacent to York Knavesmire, with racecourse views. Acres of open parkland is also available on the doorstep for walks along the nearby riverside, as are the delicious delis and revered restaurants of the popular Bishopthorpe Road. The location also offers fantastic commuter links, with London only a two-hour train journey away.
A range of luxury apartments are available at The Chocolate Works, ranging from £229,995 to £366,995. In this price bracket, prospective buyers could save between £2,100 and £8,300 on their dream home at The Chocolate Works, by taking advantage of the Stamp Duty holiday, compared to the cost of the same property in April 2021.
Paul Hogan, sales director at Barratt Developments Yorkshire East, commented: “The Chancellor's update recognised the central role that construction can play in a strong economic recovery. The Stamp Duty cut will be welcomed by many of our customers and will give an immediate boost to the whole housing market, from first time buyers to second steppers and beyond.”
Woodland Rise
Situated on the outskirts of Hexham, Northumberland, and surrounded by beautiful countryside, David Wilson Homes’ Woodland Rise development features a range of three-, four- and five-bedroom homes.
With Hexham titled the ‘happiest place to live in Britain’ in a December 2019 survey, Woodland Rise is the perfect development for those who are looking to grow their family, or for families who simply need the luxury of additional space around the home. With a variety of Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ schools and easy access to Newcastle via A69 for commuters, Woodland Rise is perfectly situated for both families and professionals. What’s more, the development is also within walking distance of the historic market town of Hexham and has an array of countryside walks right on its doorstep.
To get a feel for the quality of the properties available, Woodland Rise has also recently launched two new show homes; the three-bedroom ‘Chapelford’ and the four-bedroom ‘Allendale’, both of which are three-story homes. Many of the homes still available offer added benefits such as flexible living spaces, making it ideal for home working, and south-facing gardens with added decking area.
Properties at Woodland Rise are available to purchase from £290,495 to £530,495, and by taking advantage of the Stamp Duty holiday, interested homeowners could now save between £3,300 and £16,500, when compared to the cost of the same property in April 2021.
Fenton Hewitt, sales director at Barratt Developments North East, commented: “Following the scrapping of the Stamp Duty combined with the government’s Help to Buy scheme, now is the perfect time for interested customers to really consider purchasing their dream home. The government has taken a step in the right direction in its support of the housing market, and we encourage all those interested to take advantage and act now.”
It’s estimated that the scrapping of Stamp Duty will benefit nine in ten homebuyers in England and Northern Ireland, saving £4,500 on the average purchase.
