Posted 23 January 2019 by Keith Osborne

We take a look at the current developments of Meyer Homes, a company with big plans for building hundreds of quality homes...

Meyer Homes has demonstrated its ambitions in the quality and specification of its homes at its first two developments, where house-hunters still have the opportunity to purchase a stylish, high-specification properties.

This housebuilder was founded with the acquisition of 14 sites in October 2015. Between them, these are planned to create over 3,000 new homes over the next five to seven years.

With two fully completed developments, the first two site projects provide excellent examples of the style and specification that purchasers can expect of Meyer Homes.

Each has a wide choice of properties, from apartments that will appeal to first-time buyers to sizeable houses that are perfect for families and downsizers.

In a short time, Meyer Homes has accumulated a number of major awards and a fine reputation for its designs and the quality of build and fitting. Its initial developments set high standards of anticipation for future ones.

James Moody, managing director at Meyer Homes explains: “Meyer Homes are creating stylish distinct new build homes tailored to the local area for all our upcoming projects. Each development will be uniquely designed by select architects and designers to enhance the local communities.”

Gabriel Square is in St Albans, located just a few minutes on foot from its railway station and all the sought-after town’s shops and amenities. Originally launched in May 2017, this is a development of thoroughly modern architectural design (from Benson & Forsyth) with one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments and four-bedroom townhouses – 80 properties in all. Residents have secure underground parking and storage facilities for bicycles.

These properties are set around a landscaped square which features work by award-winning British sculptor David Harber.

Exterior character is matched by impressive interiors, both in terms of its function and design by Conran & Partners. The properties have open-plan, spacious layouts and benefit from underfloor heating and smart home control. Kitchens and bathrooms both boast high-grade names, including Poggenpohl, Neff and Laufen.

The quality and styling won Gold for the Best Interior Design category and Silver for Best House at the WhatHouse? Awards 2017, considered the most prestigious in the housebuilding industry.

Gabriel Square is on the doorstep of many reasons why St Albans regularly ranks in the top 20 of places to live in the UK. Aside from its commute time of under half-an-hour on a fast train to central London, it is also within easy reach of the M25, M1 and A(1)M. Airports are easily reached, with journey times of 25, 35 and 45 minutes to Luton, Heathrow and Stansted respectively.

The town has an impressive range of shops, leisure facilities, pubs, bars and restaurants. Family buyers are attracted to the range of highly regarded state and private schools within easy reach.

While all the one-bedroom apartments have now been sold, some properties are still available at Gabriel Square. There are a few two-bedroom apartments, priced from £635,000; with over 70% sold, there’s still a chance to purchase a duplex, starting at £715,000; and for those looking for a townhouse, prices currently range from £965,000 to £1.3m, with all of them all now ready to move into.

For house-hunters looking for a desirable place to live closer to the heart of London, there’s the Bishops Gate development in Fulham (in Zone 2). This development of 52 generously sized properties (42 apartments and 10 townhouses) also has four retail units in two refurbished, listed gatehouses facing on to Fulham High Street, incorporating a private driveway entrance to the courtyard.

This is all just a few minutes from the River Thames and Putney Bridge Tube station, with a wide range of quality places to eat, drink and shops right on the doorstep.

Behind the development’s historic face, design for these new homes is thoroughly contemporary, with characterful exteriors and on-trend interior features, from high ceilings and ‘oversized’ doors to high-quality kitchens, bathrooms and en suites. With engineered timber flooring and underfloor heating, video entry systems, comfort cooling, and ventilations and heat recovery systems, life at Bishops Gate matches style with practicality.

This is the same outside the development. Aside from shopping eating and drinking, there are many other things within very easy reach. Bishops Park, The Hurlingham Club and Fulham FC’s Craven Cottage stadium are north of the river, with Wimbledon Common, Richmond Park and the London Wetland Centre south of the river. Road and rail/Tube connections bring the rest of the capital an easy journey away.

The development is now complete and there is still a range of properties for sale at Bishop’s Gate. Prices start at £649,000 for a one-bedroom apartment and at £750,000 for a two-bedroom apartment. There are duplexes available from £1.425m, while the townhouses begin at £1.95m.
