Top 10 Reasons to Buy at... The Arc in Aylesbury

Posted 8 October 2019 by Keith Osborne

10 top reasons why house-hunters should consider purchasing a home from Shanly Homes at The Arc...

The WhatHouse? team recently visited The Arc, a development in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, to take a tour with our host Ross Culhane (senior sales manager at Shanly Homes North London) and find out the ten best reasons to buy a new home there.

Reason 1: Appeal to a wide range of buyers.

The 59 one- and two-bedroom apartments at The Arc have already attracted the attention of a variety of buyers, many of them first-timers, including single people and couples, and a young mother and her child. Phase 1 launched this Spring and already 9 of the 20 have been reserved, and the development is due for completion in February 2020.

Reason 2: There are many features which distinguish it from the competition.

Taking a look around the two-bedroom show home, which has been fully decorated and fitted by interiors experts Mi Casa, and a couple of other completed units, it’s an opportunity to see some of the features that distinguish this development from some of the others. Every master bedroom has sizeable built-in wardrobes, even the one-bedroom properties; the price for all includes a full range of integrated kitchen appliances, which some others charge extra for; and details such as architraves, hinges and door handles accumulate to a real distinction from other housebuilders.

Reason 3: It’s just minutes from Aylesbury station and shops.

On arrival, it took just ten minutes on foot to get to the front door of The Arc. There are a couple of routes that take the same time, one of which is passing along the High Street and its impressive range of shops and eateries, the other through the Friars Square Shopping Centre and Market Square.

Reason 4: Its easily commutable.

There are frequent trains to and from London Marylebone, with journey times from 56 minutes. Aylesbury is also the crossroads of the A41 and A418, easy routes to the likes of Oxford, Milton Keynes, Bicester and Hemel Hempstead. The Arc has parking spaces for all the two-bedroom apartments. It’s around half-an-hour’s drive to the M1, M25 and M40.

Reason 5: Help to Buy is available on every unit.

The government-backed Help to Buy scheme can be used to purchase a new build home priced up to £600,000, and over 80% of the people taking it up have been first-time buyers. It requires a 5% deposit and provides a 20% equity loan (interest-free for five years), with a mortgage needed for the remaining 75%. For a one-bedroom apartment priced £199,950 you’d need a deposit of £9,998 and the government will provide a Help to Buy loan of £39,990, leaving you requiring a mortgage of £149,962.

Reason 6: Shanly’s name has heritage and success across the Group.

Shanly Homes is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2019, and its founder Michael Shanly is currently chairman. It’s part of a Group that operates across the Home Counties, which also includes Shanly Partnership Homes (affordable homes provider), Sorbon Estates (commercial property owner, asset manager and developer) and Shanly Foundation, a charitable organisation funded by the rest of the group. Over the last 50 years, the Group has developed an enviable track record and has significant experience in delivering high quality homes successfully.

Reason 7: There are other incentives on many developments.

Across its range of developments, some properties benefit from buyer incentives such as Stamp Duty paid and Smooth Move (taking the hassle out of selling old and buying new). At The Arc, Shanly Homes is also offering furniture packages for buyers up to the value of £15,000, ideal for first-time buyers.

Reason 8: Experience of building a very wide range of homes.

Shanly Homes’ current portfolio of developments demonstrates the range of homes that it can successfully build, from value-for-money apartments such as those at The Arc and luxury executive homes in prime locations such as Northwood on the north-west fringe of Greater London and riverside apartments in sought-after Windsor.

Reason 9: Shanly’s green credentials are second to none.

For every apartment built, Shanly plants 10 native trees, and for every house, it plants 20. The trees are planted in some of the Woodland Trust’s 1,000 woods and is proud to support them in their mission to double the amount of native woodland covering the UK.

From energy-efficient and sustainable materials to effective disposal of waste, the team works hard to ensure that it minimises the environmental impact of its operations without compromising on quality.

Reason 10: Be in by Christmas.

Many of the units are ready to move into now, meaning you could be in your new home before Santa calls!

Prices at Arc currently start at £199,950 for a one-bedroom apartment and £239,950 for a two-bedroom apartment. The marketing suite is open daily from 10.00am to 5.00pm.
