Ben SalisburyLovell is offering handy and inexpensive tips to buyers wanting to decorate their apartment, without breaking the bank to get a fantastic new look in their homes for a low cost.
Colette Armstrong, sales manager at Lovell, said: “Starting from scratch can be overwhelming for new buyers and the cost can add up, especially after purchasing key items such as sofas, beds and tables.
“But decorating doesn’t have to be expensive and can easily be done on a budget, which is why we have compiled our own list of ‘top tips’ with the help of interior designer Jill Lee at Designer Contracts, to help homebuyers achieve the home décor of their dreams, without the expense.”
1. There are many high-street shops that offer an excellent range of stylish homeware to suit those on a budget. Jill said: “Metallic/chrome accessories, crystal lamps and light fittings are on trend and can create an inexpensive yet sophisticated feel to a room. Keep furniture and walls neutral and add vibrant soft furnishings such as cushions, rugs, throws and lamp shades to make a bold statement.”
2. Mirrors have many purposes in the home and are an inexpensive way of creating space, enhancing the décor and reflecting light. Using corner sofas and rugs are also a great way of ‘zoning’ open-plan kitchen/living areas.
3. Use minimum wallpaper for maximum effect by papering just a section of a wall. Jill said: “Vibrant feature walls are a cost-effective way of creating a defined space, particularly in open-plan areas.” Wall art stickers are also an inexpensive and hassle-free way of livening up a room, particularly in the kitchen.
4. Whether it’s a statement mirror, a striking rug or a luxurious headboard, choosing one statement piece for each room can add style and colour, whilst making it easier to stick to a budget.
5. Installing window blinds is an easy and effective way of changing the appearance of a room in your home. There is an endless variety of styles (Roman, Venetian, vertical and roller), patterns and colours, allowing you to create the perfect look in your kitchen, living room or bathroom.
