Housing Association To Host Series Of Shared Ownership Webinars This Summer

Posted 21 July 2020 by Keith Osborne

SO Resi will be hosting a three-part webinar series offering free advice to homebuyers this summer...

SO Resi, the Shared Ownership brand for Metropolitan Thames Valley Housing, will be hosting a three-part webinar series designed to offer free, helpful advice on how to use Shared Ownership. The webinars may be particularly useful to first-time buyers, or those who are hoping to get back onto the property ladder.

The first webinar will go live on Thursday 30 July at 1.00pm and will offer an introduction to Shared Ownership, which is sometimes referred to as part buy-part rent. The panel of property experts for the introductory webinar will consist of Jon Lord (managing director at Metro Finance), Lynda Clark (editor of First Time Buyer magazine), Violet Pugh (digital marketing manager at SO Resi), Diana Alam (head of sales: London at SO Resi), and Sarah McBride (sales manager: London at So Resi).

To help give buyers specialist advice about buying in different regions of the country, the second webinar on Thursday 6 August at 1.00pm will focus specifically on Shared Ownership in London. The final webinar will take place on Thursday 13 August at 1.00pm, and will be aimed at buyers interested in finding out more about Shared Ownership at a national level outside of the capital.

Kush Rawal, director of residential development at Metropolitan Thames Valley Housing, commented: “Shared Ownership has been around for more than 30 years, but there are still a number of misconceptions about the homebuying product, and a lot of myths out there that we would like to dispel. Our webinar series will offer an excellent opportunity for potential buyers to find out more about Shared Ownership, which is growing in popularity due to the changing conditions in the market.

“With the removal of the higher loan to value mortgage deals recently, first-time buyers have been bit particularly hard, and are turning to more accessible routes to homeownership. Shared Ownership is an attractive option to both first-time buyers and those looking to get back onto the property ladder as it can reduce some of the financial pressures associated with buying a home, thanks to a typically low deposit requirement.”
