Energy-Efficient Homes Launched In Haywards Heath

Sigma Homes has launched its Spring Bank development in Haywards Heath in West Sussex…

Sigma Homes has launched its £10m Spring Bank development, consisting of 20 two-, three- and four-bedroom energy-efficient homes, located on the edge of Haywards Heath, in West Sussex.

The 3.1 acre site is accessed off Lunce’s Hill, to the south of Haywards Heath, a town which has seen its status as a desirable commuter base soar in recent years. It is less than 50 minutes from London by train, while Brighton is just a 15 minute train journey away.

Two of the properties will be sold as ‘First Homes’, enabling first-time buyers to benefit from a discount of at least 40% off the property value, which is then applied in perpetuity. Mid Sussex District Council has set the eligibility criteria for the ‘First Homes’ on the development. The maximum household income for applicants is £80,000 per year. Eligible first-time buyers must have lived in the area for 12 consecutive months, or have a close family member living locally. Members, widows or widowers of the armed forces also qualify.

Geoff Potton, chief executive at Sigma Homes, says: “We are delighted to have launched our Spring Bank development, where a wide selection of homes are now available to reserve off-plan, including ‘First Homes’. There is exceptional countryside and prized attractions close by, as well as easy connectivity to larger towns, cities, and the coastline. The whole of the site benefits from a border of mature hedgerows and trees, which provides natural screening for the new homes. Spring Bank’s northern boundary will also feature new native hedgerows, trees, and substantial native shrub planting. There will be plenty of open space for residents to use and enjoy, and we have no doubt this exclusive scheme will be popular with locals seeking a beautiful eco-efficient new home. While construction work progresses, this is an opportunity for people to take a look at the plans and choose their preferred home, before the availability becomes limited.”

The homes will feature EV charging points to enable residents to lower their carbon footprint. There will be contemporary kitchens with Bosch appliances, fitted wardrobes to all bedrooms, and high-quality vinyl and carpeting provided as standard throughout.

Sigma Homes’ plans also include enhancing and maintaining dense scrub to provide habitats suitable for a range of protected species, including breeding birds, bats, hazel dormice, and reptiles. Set in a beautiful rural landscape, the new development will maintain the natural environment, as well as the area’s historic field patterns and wooded character.

The Spring Bank development has been designed to provide safe and convenient routes for walking and cycling, integrating with existing networks that offer opportunities for sustainable travel choices. Future residents will be able to access a range of amenities on foot, by bicycle and public transport. Within the site, the layout will be designed to encourage low vehicle speeds and to prioritise the needs of pedestrians and cyclists.

Haywards Heath features plenty of local amenities including shops, restaurants, pubs, green spaces, and public footpaths. As well as its vibrant retail and leisure offering, the town is close to attractions such as Sheffield Park, the National Trust’s Nymans Gardens and House, and Borde Hill Garden. Situated close to the South Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the coast is also easily accessible.

Spring Bank is located off the B2112, which is the main route into the town centre, served by regular bus services, and just over two miles from Haywards Heath railway station. While the lifestyle benefits of the West Sussex countryside are on the doorstep, the town is only 30 miles south of London and offers easy access to the M23 and M25.

Prices at Spring Bank start from £250,000, with the first new homes becoming available for occupation from October 2023.
