Savills is unveiling The Old School House in Blairgowrie, which has been converted into an exclusive collection of apartments...

Estate agent Savills has announced the launch of The Old School House, a new development which has seen a Victorian former school building in Blairgowrie restored and converted into apartments and penthouses.

Developer Corryard, who specialise in the renovation of old and listed buildings, has designed the project so that each of the eight homes accentuates the classical feel of the original building. The two cottages within the former school grounds have been converted from the former art and music classrooms and they feature sumptuous contemporary fittings throughout. Meanwhile, the duplex and penthouses offer luxury at scale, with the original classroom windows flooding the properties with natural light.

Ben Di Rollo of Savills said: “The Old School House has an abundance of attributes including its elevated, south-facing position with views over Perthshire. It quietly overlooks the market town of Blairgowrie, and is just a two-minute walk to the high street’s cafés, shops and restaurants.

The Old School House“But it is the level of design, the quality of the interiors and the sheer scale of the accommodation that really sets these homes apart. In my experience, in terms of standards of design and craftsmanship The Old School House ranks very highly, not only in a Scottish context but internationally too.”

All of the homes at the Old School House include precision-designed kitchen spaces by Cameron Interiors, with a full range of Siemens appliances. The timeless, minimalist bathrooms from Victor Paris blend brass with sleek matt surfaces and Italian porcelain. Norwegian hardwood oak flooring, with underfloor heating throughout, brings a fresh Scandi feel, while both the Victorian exteriors and contemporary interiors have been enhanced by creative lighting systems.

An attractive landscaped and planted garden square with a seating area is being created at the heart of the development. Two parking spaces come with each property and there is provision for electric car charging on site.

PerthshireThe Old School House has already attracted buyers who have time to enjoy the wide array of country pursuits on its doorstop, including downsizers and second home buyers. The region boasts no less than 40 golf courses (including two championship courses within just two miles of the property), the famous silvery River Tay (one of the best salmon rivers in the United Kingdom) as well as a multitude of lochs and glens, with opportunities for skiing at Glenshee or hiking over the region’s 28 munros. Buyer interest has come from Perthshire, as well as across Scotland and much further afield including London and Hong Kong.

Di Rollo concluded: “Savills residential research has revealed a huge surge in consumer demand for larger interiors, access to green space and a desire to improve wellbeing and work-life balance. As a result Scottish country living is very much in vogue. Homes at The Old School House, located at the gateway to The Highlands and offering the ultimate in contemporary design, encapsulate all of these themes and will not stay on the market for very long.”

Prices range from £240,000 to £520,000. Find out more at www.savills.co.uk.
