Helen ChristieQuantock House, based on Paul Street, has welcomed the first people to move into their brand new, purpose-built, low-maintenance apartments suitable for ages 55 and over, which benefit from views over the Quantock Hills.
Homeowners can also enjoy a host of communal facilities including a bistro, bar, homeowners’ lounge, treatment room, and activity room, as well as private, landscaped gardens.
Quantock House is based directly opposite the local shopping centre, with a library next door, doctor’s surgery less than half a mile away, and a golf course just a seven-minute walk away. The community, which is owned and operated by Platinum Skies, also boasts two dedicated on-site community managers, who organise a programme of activities for the homeowners to enjoy, as well as providing practical and emotional support.
To celebrate the first homeowners moving in, an afternoon tea event was organised to bring the homeowners together in the bistro with live music. This enabled them to socialise while trying a range of activity taster sessions supported by businesses from the local community in the communal areas including tai chi and yoga led by The Sangha House in Taunton, massage, reflexology, and pastel painting.

Laura Warwick, director of lifestyle, wellbeing and entertainment, says: “Throughout the afternoon, the whole community was alive with chatter as our new homeowners got to know their neighbours and really experience the best of what life has to offer at Quantock House. Our event was a proud moment for the team to see our first homeowners after they moved in as they were having a fantastic time.
She adds: “It was the perfect way to bring the community to life after a lot of hard work by our construction team to make a series of happy, healthy and affordable homes within our new apartment complex in the heart of Taunton.”
Facilities within each of the one and two-bedroom apartments includes easy to use kitchens with energy saving appliances, bathrooms with step-free showers and automatic lighting, extra-wide walkways for wheelchair access, and secure underground parking. New apartments in Quantock House are available to purchase from £105,000 with the Platinum Skies flexible Shared Ownership option.
