New Show Homes Unveiled At Longridge Housing Development

Posted 18 September 2020 by Keith Osborne

A pair of new show homes is set to open at the Lancashire development on Saturday 19 September...

On Saturday 19 September, Prospect Homes opens two new show houses in Longridge, Lancashire, to celebrate the latest milestone for the new community where many properties have now been sold.

Work to transform the former Ridings depot began in early 2018, with the first homes at the aptly named development The Ridings released for sale in September that year.

Fast-forward and it’s now a thriving community. Many of the homes are now occupied and demand for the remaining properties is high, thanks in part to the Stamp Duty holiday and the offer of Help to Buy.

From this weekend the two new show homes will be available to view by appointment only at the popular development and a new-look sales office.

Samantha Williams, head of sales for Prospect Homes, said: “Around two-thirds of the homes at The Ridings have now been sold and the development is continuing to attract strong interest. We’ve seen a surge in enquiries post-lockdown, with people having reassessed their housing needs and others keen to take advantage of the Stamp Duty holiday. As work on site has progressed we’re moving ourselves into a new sales office show homes. It’s quite fitting that they’re opening as we celebrate the second anniversary of the launch of the development.

“The ‘Bembridge’ and ‘Cavendish’ are new house types with an improved specification and with the help of professional interior designers have been styled as real homes visitors can imagine themselves living in. We’ve also redesigned the sales office so that the options available to buyers in terms of the finish of their kitchen, the floor tiles and other elements of their new home are on display. Because they don’t have to be physically taken out to be seen, it’s not only more convenient but potentially safer in light of Covid-19.”

Both show homes are four-bedroom detached designs with a spacious lounge at the front and open-plan kitchen and dining room offering direct access out onto the rear garden. They each feature a utility and cloakroom, with an en suite to the main bedroom to complement the family bathroom. All four bedrooms in the ‘Cavendish’ (priced from £289,995) are doubles, while the ‘Bembridge’ (priced from £265,000) has three double bedrooms and one single bedroom.

Current availability at The Ridings includes three- and four-bedroom homes, with prices from £207,995.

Homes at The Ridings due for completion before 31 March 2021 are Stamp Duty free. The properties are also eligible for Help to Buy, giving purchasers the chance to secure a new home with a 5% deposit and 75% mortgage, with an equity loan covering the remaining 20%. In its current form, Help to Buy is open to first-time buyers and those who’ve sold subject to contract, but from April 2021 the scheme will be exclusive to first-time buyers.

“Buying a home is an emotional investment, not just a financial one and viewing remains an important part of the buying process,” Williams added. “The show homes are open by appointment only, with social distancing measures in place. This gives buyers the time they need to view the properties uninterrupted and to discuss their housing needs with the sales team in privacy.”
