Olympics Contenders Open Persimmon Show Home
Badminton champions Chris and Gabby Adcock took a break from preparing for next summer’s rearranged Olympic Games to visit Persimmon Homes’ latest show home.
The married mixed-double players are currently preparing for Tokyo 2020, as the Games are still to be called, where they’ll be looking to build on their debut at Rio 2016 and their silver medal at the European Games in Minsk in 2019.
The pair visited Perry Park View in Perry Barr, where they took a tour of Persimmon’s new three-bedroom ‘Souter’ show home. They enjoyed a look around the whole house, admiring the view of the garden and the great space at the top of the house, with Chris even trying out the bath for size.
After taking in the Olympic-themed bedroom – “It really makes me feel like I’m back in the Athlete’s Village,” said Gabby – and commenting on Persimmon’s “amazing” Finishing Touches that allow customers to personalise their new home, the couple opted for a quick game of badminton in the garden. When Gabby knocked the shuttlecock into next door’s garden, they went together to call on friendly neighbours Ayoede and Teniola asking for it back!
Chris and Gabby, who married in 2013, have enjoyed great success and gained medals at the World Championships, European Championships and Commonwealth Games.
Perry Park View is close to many of the venues earmarked for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, a competition that Chris and Gabby are no strangers to having won gold in 2018 on the Gold Coast and in Glasgow in 2014. The venues include Alexander Stadium, Edgbaston Stadium, Coventry Stadium, Sutton Park and Cannock Chase.
The development is just under four miles north of Birmingham and offers a choice of one- and two-bedroom apartments as well as three-bedroom houses. It is a short walk from Perry Park itself, home to Alexander Stadium which is currently undergoing a huge facelift in preparation for hosting not only athletic events, but also the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
Prices at Perry Park View start at £141,000 for a two-bed flat, or £210,000 for a three-bed semi-detached house. Help to Buy is available.
