First Major Phase To Launch At Thamesmead Regeneration
As part of Peabody’s ground-breaking regeneration of Thamesmead in south-east London, the lakeside village of Southmere is set to launch on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 March.
Ultimately delivering over 500 new homes alongside a public square and community library, shops and resident facilities, the first 47 one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments and selected homes are being brought to market with properties under £600,000 available through London Help to Buy.
Southmere is set to become a buzzing hub at Thamesmead. The iconic Southmere Lake, which is currently being revitalised with a £2.5million investment, will provide access to a new fishing platform and Boat Club, offering paddleboarding and kayaking.
The vibrant centre of Southmere, Cygnet Square will host a variety of exciting leisure and retail opportunities, as well as independent shops, restaurants and cafes. Offering over 240 hectares of parks and green space, five lakes, and seven kilometres of canals, residents will enjoy more than double the amount of green space per person than the London average.
Southmere is already well connected to the city, with the nearby Abbey Wood Overground station making London Bridge accessible in only 22 minutes, Bond Street in 25 minutes and Waterloo in 35 minutes. With Crossrail on the horizon at Abbey Wood, commuters can expect to be in Canary Wharf in only 11 minutes. For those travelling slightly further afield, London City Airport is accessible in just 30 minutes. Residents will also have access to cycle storage, and parking spaces and permits are also available.
