Origin Housing is set to launch Pear Tree View, a contemporary collection of eight Shared Ownership apartments in the Hertfordshire hotspot of Welwyn Garden City.

Set within a private gated setting, the development will comprise seven two-bedroom apartments and a single one-bedroom apartment, available through a part buy-part rent arrangement.

Simon Scott, assistant director, commercial and property marketing for Origin Housing, commented: “We’re thrilled to be helping buyers onto the ladder at Pear Tree View apartments. Deposits for one-bedroom homes start from as little as £3,000, compared to £24,000 if buyers were to purchase the home on the open market, while deposits for two-bedroom homes start from just £8,688.”

With excellent transport links into central London, commuters will be well placed at Pear Tree View. The development is a 12-minute walk from Welwyn Garden City Station, where trains to London Kings Cross take 29 minutes, with the nearby town of Stevenage reachable in just 12 minutes by train. Direct trains also run to Moorgate and Cambridge, both in under an hour.

Inside the apartments, modern, open-plan living spaces will flow into high-specification kitchens, complete with Vivo Gloss kitchen units and integrated appliances. Underfoot, every apartment has Karndean vinyl flooring fitted throughout, while bathrooms have ceramic wall tiles and an electric heated towel rail. Each apartment will also enjoy private outdoor space in the form of a balcony or terraced garden.

Known for its abundance of shops and sociable spots, the UK's second-ever garden city which was purpose built in the 20s, there are a number of independent businesses, bars, restaurants and shops nearby. A short walk from John Lewis and The Howard Centre, residents will have plenty of shopping stops to enjoy, while for dining and drinking out, moments away residents can find family run pub The Bakehouse, or independent lakeside Italian restaurant Terranova.

This development is close to Stanborough Park, a 126-acre park with two lakes, perfect for fishing or a range of water sports, and just a seven-minute walk away. Hatfield House is a 10-minute drive away, with plenty of activities and events taking place at the well-known grounds, while outlet store The Galleria is a short drive away by car, home to nine Odeon cinema screens, more than 50 shops and Hertfordshire’s best indoor adventure play area.

Shared Ownership prices start from £60,000 for a 25% share of a one-bedroom apartment full market value of £240,000) and £81,250 for a 25% share of a two-bedroom apartment (full market value of £325,000).
