A collection of cottages and apartments for over-55s has been unveiled by Renaissance Villages on a 90-acre site in the village of Great Alne...

A specialist developer has unveiled their next new homes development aimed at retirees in the village of Great Alne, seven miles north-west of Stratford-upon-Avon.

Renaissance Villages will build 164 properties on the luxury Maudslay Park development, which will be set in 90 acres of countryside and offer a range of apartments and cottages for over-55s, the first of which will be completed in February 2017.

In addition to the individual properties, the retirement living scheme will provide an array of communal facilities for residents to enjoy: based around a central clubhouse, there will be a lounge, winter garden, restaurant, bar, swimming pool with steam room and shower, gym, hobby room, cinema, library and meeting room for the exclusive use of the homeowners at Maudslay Park.

Inside the properties, buyers will find a modern and stylish specification in every room, with brands such as Alno, Villeroy & Boch and Hansgrohe providing kitchens, bathrooms and fittings respectively. There is underfloor heating and double glazing for energy-efficient comfort, an emergency alarm for peace of mind and the luxury of integrated kitchen appliances and built-in wardrobes to the master bedroom. Parking spaces are also available for residents.

William Parry, head of development at Renaissance Villages, says: “With Maudslay Park benefitting from the three-fold appeal of a desirable location, excellent finish and luxury lifestyle facilities, we anticipate considerable buyer interest in the launch and strong off-plan sales.  There is nothing else of this type or quality in the area and we expect enquiries to come from downsizers looking for a well-designed contemporary home from which they can live active and independent lives. The surrounding area includes a vast array of cultural attractions, with the on-site clubhouse offering country club-style living and the ideal space for socialising, relaxation and leisure.”

Great Alne is a delightful village dating back to the Domesday Book and before, centred on the 13th-century St Mary Magdalene church and once well known for its own motor company. There are a range of amenities at other local villages, such as Alcester and Wootton Wawen, the latter including a station on the Chiltern Line.

There are more regular and varied services from a host of major stations within easy reach, such as Stratford-upon-Avon, Worcester and Warwick, with Leamington Spa offering a journey time 1 hour 18 minutes to London Marylebone and 28 minutes into Birmingham New Street.

The two-bedroom apartments will start from £275,000 and three-bedroom cottages from £510,000.
