House-hunters looking for affordable new homes for sale in south-west London will be delighted by the launch of a collection of Shared Ownership properties in Wandsworth by a partnership between developer Frasers Property UK and housing provider Viridian.

Together, they are launching Arcadia, a range of Shared Ownership apartments available through Viridian Housing, located in the recently unveiled Five Riverside building. Additionally, there are some apartments available for affordable rent, which are also managed by Viridian Housing.

The properties have a number of eco-friendly features and flexible, spacious open-plan living spaces, and are set within landscaped gardens, walkways and communal spaces. When complete, the Riverside Quarter scheme designed by award-winning architects Careyjones Chapmantolcher will contain over 700 apartments together with 25 commercial units.

Arcadia Simon Lear, CEO developments of Frasers Property (UK) Ltd, says: “The Riverside Quarter development has been extremely successful, but its success long-term rests on creating the right mix of residential and commercial, private and affordable homes to create a community. We are delighted to be working with Viridian Housing who will be managing the homes available for affordable rent and Shared Ownership apartments at Five Riverside.”

The layout of each property is unique, though all have underfloor heating, kitchens fitted with designer Symphony kitchens and integrated appliances including a ceramic hob, oven, dishwasher, fridge/freezer and washer/dryer, and fitted wardrobes to the master bedroom. The bathrooms include ceramic floor tiles, heated towel rails and a fitted mirror alongside a thermostatic bath/shower mixer. Some apartments come with Juliet balconies and some have private balconies.

Cheryl Scott, head of business development at Viridian Housing, commented, “We are extremely pleased to be offering our residents both affordable rent and a selection of one- and two-bedroom Shared Ownership apartments at Riverside Quarter. The location is highly desirable, and the design and quality of the scheme is of the highest standard. We are delighted to be working in partnership with Frasers Property and look forward to working closely with them to deliver more affordable housing.”

With the government-backed Shared Ownership scheme, homebuyers are able to purchase between 25%  and 75% of the value of the property up-front and pay rent on the remaining share. There is an option to purchase further shares later (‘staircasing’) up to 100% of the value of the home. Prices at Arcadia start at £183,750 for a 25% share.

Cllr Paul Ellis Wandsworth Council’s housing spokesman added: “This is a superb development and the quality of the new Shared Ownership homes is very high indeed. These properties have been made available to Wandsworth residents who can’t afford to buy on the open market and I understand there are still a small number left for local people to buy. Shared ownership is a great way to get on the property ladder.”
