Keith OsborneRedrow Homes has been given the go ahead by planners to start work on the first phase of new homes at Ebbsfleet Green in Kent, as part of the UK’s first garden city for 100 years.
More than 6,000 homebuyers have already registered an interest in Redrow’s development in Ebbsfleet, which will eventually see 950 new homes built at the site. The first phase of 180 homes has now been approved by the Ebbsfleet Development Corporation, and will deliver a mix of one- and two-bedroom apartments alongside a range of houses with two to five bedrooms from the housebuilder’s acclaimed Heritage Collection of property types – inspired by the Arts & Crafts movement, and the contemporary designs of its Abode collection.
Ebbsfleet Green is part of a site being developed by Redrow in the coming years which is equivalent to 50 football pitches. The development will eventually be home to a number of new amnenities including a primary school, park, sports pitches, community allotments, local shop, community hall, pavilion, hotel and pub.
Chris Lilley, managing director for Redrow Homes (South East), says: “Having worked so closely with the Ebbsfleet Development Corporation to reach this point, we’re delighted that plans for our first phase of 180 high-quality homes have been given the go ahead. We’ve received a phenomenal amount of interest from potential purchasers already, and are very much looking forward to starting work on site, with a view to releasing the first homes for sale in June this year.
“It’s exciting to be part of Ebbsfleet Garden City, which is set to become a highly desirable destination for homebuyers.”
Ebbsfleet, around 20 miles South East of central London, could eventually accommodate 15,000 extra homes as the 'garden city' grows. The area has a range of commuter rail services, including High Speed and Eurostar, and is close to the popular Bluewater Shopping Centre, which has over 330 shops and restaurants.
