Weekend Launch Event For Shared Ownership Homes In East London
Legal & General Affordable Homes is launching a collection of new Shared Ownership homes in Newham’s Royal Wharf, East London, at an event on Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 August.
East River Wharf will offer one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments in a brand new community where residents will benefit from a wide range of amenities including a spa, fitness studio, exclusive gym, 24-hour concierge and security services. In addition, there’s the Sky Lounge, a 16th-floor space in the development to meet, collaborate and socialise while taking in the views of the city skyline and the River Thames.
The apartments themselves are designed for contemporary living and come complete with modern appliances – and each home has a private balcony and plenty of space to work from home. The open-plan living areas are full of natural light and offer a straightforward move and a blank canvas to put your own stamp on. One-, two- and three-bedroom properties are on offer, starting from £96,875 for a minimum 25% share (based on a full market value of £387,500).
With Shared Ownership you can buy a portion of a home and pay rent on the remainder. The deposit required for Shared Ownership properties is significantly smaller than a typical deposit because it is calculated against a percentage of the share that you purchase rather than the full value of the property. Through a process called staircasing, over time you can incrementally increase your share of the property to 100% should you wish to.
A new community in the Royal Docks
Once the heart of UK’s shipping industry, Royal Docks, which includes Royal Wharf, is an exemplar of regeneration with an enviable commercial and cultural hub and a new waterfront. The new community will see an overall investment of £8billion, including a £600million upgrade to the Docklands Light Railway, and a new pedestrian bridge connecting Silvertown on the south side, with Custom House Elizabeth line station and ExCeL on the north.
Reflecting the colourful and multicultural community, the Royal Docks boasts a full table of cultural events. From jazz festivals and international food and drink events, to the festival of architecture and abstract art shows, there’s something to suit a variety of tastes and palates.
