Help To Buy Apartments Launched On The Isle Of Dogs

Posted 10 February 2022 by Keith Osborne

L&Q has released apartments at New Union Wharf that can be purchased by first-time buyers through Help to Buy...

Dispelling the idea that first-time buyers cannot afford waterside living in London, L&Q has unveiled a collection of one- to three-bedroom apartments through Help to Buy at New Union Wharf in the Isle of Dogs.

Overlooking the Thames, and just a 20-minute walk from Canary Wharf, residents can enjoy views of the famous river directly from their homes, as well a fast commute into work.

Architects Jestico + Whiles have designed a pattern of terraces and apartments blocks that makes the most of the sought-after Thames positioning, with U-shaped blocks orientated towards the water, interspersed with landscaped gardens.

The new collection of apartments marks the second phase of L&Q’s regeneration of the 1970s estate, building 399 homes and reviving a stretch of the Thames walkway.

Claire Brenlund, sales director at L&Q London commented: “London’s riverside homes have long been some of the most sought-after in the capital, providing a sense of tranquillity and calmness that can be hard to find in the capital. We’re pleased to be offering Help to Buy at New Union Wharf, meaning buyers need just a 5% deposit to secure their home, supported by an equity loan of up to 40%. This gives a whole new generation of homeowners the chance to enjoy living on the River Thames.”

New Union WharfApartments at New Union Wharf feature flexible open-plan living spaces, large double bedrooms and private balconies. Contemporary handleless kitchens include integrated appliances, whilst bathrooms are fitted with modern white sanitaryware and bespoke mirrored cabinetry.

As well as having the river to enjoy, residents will benefit from expansive green space on their doorstep, including Mudchute Park and Farm a 10-minute walk away. Greenwich Park, one of London’s most recognised green spaces, can also be reached in under 20 minutes by bike.

As well as the short walk to Canary Wharf, commuters are seven minutes on foot from Cross Harbour DLR station, where journeys to Bank take 16 minutes. From Canary Wharf Tube station, residents can access the Jubilee line, where journeys into London Bridge take just six minutes.

For retail and dining, the Isle of Dogs is home to spots like The Lotus Floating Chinese Restaurant and Pepper Saint Ontiod. Meanwhile, Canary Wharf has over 120 shops spread across five malls, and a large array of restaurants, bars and pubs, from gourmet street food to fine dining.

Prices start from £390,000 for a one-bedroom apartment, with Help to Buy available on all homes under £600,000. Find out ore at lqhomes.com.
