Estate agent Hamptons has announced a new development of luxury homes now available to purchase called The Woodcote.

It’s a collection of 98 luxury new homes from developer Dominus New Homes, set within and surrounding a Grade II listed Georgian manor house, all within private grounds.

The Manor House Apartments and The Terraces, which form part of this development, are testament to the history of the grounds and wider area. The seven luxury one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments come with ultra-modern appliances and handcrafted interiors designed with detailed consideration to ensure that they retain as many of the traditional features as possible.

The WoodcoteThe Terraces includes 14 freehold houses with two double bedrooms, a storage/study area located on the second floor, and a private garden. They have been architecturally designed to allow for flexible living, with two bedrooms, an area on the second floor which could be used as a study, and a private garden.

The grounds of The Woodcote are steeped in history that dates back to the late 17th century, when the cloth maker and banker, Josiah Diston, bought and paid for the mansion at Woodcote Grove, which was previously called Mount Diston when it was built in the Dutch colonial style around 1700. The Epsom-born businessman, who remained local until his death in 1737, sat in the House of Commons for the Whigs and was also a director of the Bank of England.

Epsom as an area also has associations with monarchical lineage stretching right back to the days of Charles II, when he frequented the area with his famous mistress Nell Gwyn. International royals loved Epsom too. Prince George of Denmark was often spotted in the area, Queen Elizabeth I was so enamoured with the region that she went to great lengths to stem the growth of Greater London in order to preserve Epsom’s natural environment.

The WoodcoteAs an area, The Epsom and Ewell District has long been sought-after thanks to the proximity and accessibility to London, the M25 and major international airports. But it’s also renowned for its pristine parks and exquisite scenery. Rosebery Park is a 10-minute walk from the development, while a 12-minute cycle will take you to Epsom Common, a 177-hectare nature reserve of national importance and the original natural spring which turned Epsom into one of the country’s first village spa towns. The Surrey Hills are also a short drive away. Epsom is also well known worldwide for the Epsom Derby Stakes, the world’s greatest flat race. It has run annually for nearly two-and-a-half centuries.

Equipped with two mainline railway lines, Epsom is connected to three of London’s main hubs: London Bridge, London Victoria and London Waterloo. There are over 200 trains that travel to the capital on any given working day via Southern and South Western Railway, with Victoria and Waterloo routes taking around 40 minutes (London Bridge is 43 minutes). The frequency, speed and convenience of the travel links mean that Epsom is the perfect family-friendly commuter town. Prices at The Woodcote start from £635,000.
