Jeweller’s Walk-In Safe Features In New Conversion Apartment
Edgbaston-based agent Davidson Estates believes well-heeled buyers with expensive rings, bracelets, earrings and necklaces will be curiously attracted to an apartment in central Birmingham which comes with its very own walk-in jewellers’ safe room.
The quirky feature is part of one of the apartments at the conversion of a listed Victorian building in Tenby Street. The development is called Sydenham Place and is a gated mix of old and new residences which consists of a pair of three-bedroomed duplex apartments, three two-bedroom apartments, and a large, executive one-bedroom apartment. There are also three townhouses, each with three bedrooms, with four offices on the ground and lower-ground floors.
Apartment 2 is for sale at £299,995 and comprises of 767 sq ft of space on the upper ground floor that includes a large entrance cloakroom and hallway with storage, and an open-plan living and dining area with designer kitchen. There’s also a king-sized master bedroom with dressing room, the largest bathroom in the development with bath and shower, as well as the walk-in jewellers’ safe room, with its antique door. This can be used for pretty much anything and the developers, Urban Rise Developments, will fit it out however the new owners want it.
Ben Davidson, director of Davidson Estates, said: “There can’t be many luxury apartments that come with such a secure feature as a walk-in jewellers’ safe room. But then there aren’t that many conversions of Grade II-listed buildings that happen to be located in the world-famous Jewellery Quarter.”
One of the joint agents for the scheme, Davidson Estates is the first to arrange and complete a sale but with some homes reserved over the past few weeks, there are only three apartments, three town houses and two commercial units now available. Prices at Sydenham Place range from £299,995 to £599,995. The development is a short walk from the Jewellery Quarter’s vibrant St Paul’s Square, just 15 minutes from Colmore Row and 20 minutes from New Street station.
Davidson added: “Sydenham Place is a stunning development where we’ve already sold the first unit and we’re now busy handling enquiries for this feature apartment and other units from potential buyers.”
Andrew Chan and Israr Iqbal, co-directors of Urban Rise Developments, said: “We are very pleased with the high level of specification and finishes we have provided in all of the apartments. However, Apartment 2 is extra special because of the unique nature of the large walk-in safe room. It's always special when something of such famous historic heritage can be restored to its former glory and still remains in fully working order.”
Construction work on the apartments completed on 20 November with phase two on the townhouses starting this month, with plans for it to be completed by the summer.
