First Homes Scheme Launch In Ashby-de-la-Zouch

Keith OsborneCrest Nicholson is welcoming first-time buyers to its Potter’s Grange in Ashby-de-la-Zouch to take advantage of the government-backed First Homes scheme, which has just been launched on selected plots there.
The First Homes scheme, introduced by the government last year, aims to help first-time buyers get onto the property ladder by offering up to a 50% discount on the market price of selected new build homes, with just a 5% deposit. To be eligible for the scheme, the property must be a new build and applicants must be first-time buyers with a household income of no more than £80,000. Applicants must also be able to access a mortgage of at least 50% of the market price of the property. Local councils may set additional eligibility requirements.
One of the house types at Potters Grange that the scheme is available on is the three-bedroom ‘Hatfield’, with first-time buyers being offered a 30% discount on the market price of their new home. The ‘Hatfield’ features an open-plan kitchen/dining room and spacious separate living room which runs across the rear of the property, providing plenty of space to relax, unwind, or entertain. The ground floor also benefits from French doors opening into a private garden which flood the downstairs with an abundance of natural light. Upstairs, are two double bedrooms, with the main complete with its own en suite and built-in wardrobe. The third single bedroom is ideal as a guest room, nursery or separate office space for those who work from home. The main family bathroom serves the other bedrooms.
Vanessa MacNee, sales and marketing director at Crest Nicholson Midlands, commented: “We’re proud to be providing further support for first time buyers at Potter’s Grange through the government’s First Homes scheme. With the end of the government-backed Help to Buy scheme, the First Homes scheme is a great alternative which supports first-time buyers. It now sits alongside Deposit Unlock, which offers mortgages with just a 5% deposit, and Home Reach, which provides part-buy, part-rent options, as schemes available at the development.
“This is a great opportunity to join a well-established, bustling, and diverse community of homeowners, including young professionals and families. The scheme is already proving very popular, with many completions already taking place, so we advise anyone interested to get in touch with our friendly sales teams as soon as possible to check they are eligible and find out more information.”
The development is a collection of three-, four- and five-bedroom homes, located just one mile from the centre of Ashby-de-la-Zouch. The town offers a mix of high street stores, clothes boutiques, pubs and restaurants, while Ashby Park – with a range of supermarkets and stores including M&S Food Hall – is just a five-minute drive away. For families, there is a wide range of primary and secondary schools to choose from. Just a short walk from the development is Woodcote Primary School, rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted, as well as the Ashby-de-la-Zouch Church of England Primary School, also rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted.
Commuters are well catered for too, with Burton-on-Trent train station less than nine miles away, and offering regular direct services into Birmingham, Nottingham and Derby, while the M42 and M1 are both within 10 miles of Potter’s Grange. The First Homes scheme is also available at Sketchley Gardens in Nuneaton and Union Place at Monksmoor Park in Daventry.
Prices at Potter’s Grange using the First Homes scheme start from £193,900 for a three-bedroom home. Find out more at www.crestnicholson.com.
