Ladies FC Opens West Midlands Show Home

Players from a women’s football club which is being sponsored by Ashberry Homes recently visited its Lucas Gardens development in Shirley to open a new show home.

Abbie Taylor, Molly Gilmartin and Naomi Melbourne from Solihull Sporting Ladies FC’s women’s team and Amelia Richards, Ella Louise Jackson and Myleigh Harris from the club’s U14s team cut the ribbon to the four-bedroom ‘Jasmine’ show house.

They were the first visitors to see inside the house, which features a child’s bedroom inspired by England’s Lionesses, complete with a mural representing the starting line-up of the team which won the Women’s Euro 2022 final – and a bed with a net frame designed to resemble a goal.

Ashberry Homes has agreed to be the main sponsor of Solihull Sporting Ladies FC for the 2023/24 season as part of its support for the local community.

David Slawinski, chairman of Solihull Sporting FC, said: “The girls really enjoyed visiting the development and cutting the ribbon to the show home. The sales team were very friendly and made them feel really welcome. The girls enjoyed taking a tour of the show home and getting to see what a completed new build house looks like as well as being the first visitors to look inside the football-themed bedroom where the green and white colours and decor honoured women’s football perfectly.”

Ashberry Homes is building 89 homes at Lucas Gardens, including 73 private homes for sale and 16 affordable homes available for local people through low-cost rent or Shared Ownership. The scheme is part of the wider redevelopment of the former Lucas Engineering site.
