A win for WhatHouse? at the First Time Buyer Readers’ Awards

Posted 25 April 2016 by Keith Osborne

The WhatHouse? newspaper offshoot of Whathouse.com has been rewarded by the readers of First Time Buyer magazine at a high-profile awards event...

The monthly WhatHouse? property newspapers have won a ‘highly commended’ prize at the respected First Time Buyer Readers’ Awards, held last week at the Waldorf Hilton in the West End of London.

The free newspapers, which are published in two editions and distributed by the Royal Mail to ABC1 households and at selected Greater London outlets, total 420,000 per issue, covering the southern Home Counties, the capital and the West Midlands. The publication made the shortlist (decided by a panel of expert judges) with a number of major competitors, including two national brands.

Editor Keith Osborne, who with sales manager Bob Faulkner received the prize from host Nicki Chapman, says: “We are absolutely delighted to get win the ‘highly commended’ prize from the readers of First Time Buyer magazine for Best Property Supplement of the Year. It’s a testament to the hard work of our team, and their efforts against some very high-profile brands. The judgement of readers and homebuyers themselves is particularly appreciated, and we hope we can continue to provide interesting articles to buyers and homeowners in the coming months.

Lynda Clark, editor of First Time Buyer Magazine says: “Once again we are delighted to have celebrated the outstanding work that is being done by so many companies and individuals to give first-time buyers a helpful boost onto the housing ladder. The awards are always a highlight of my year as they remind me of the great lengths that many companies go to in order to support those just starting out on their homebuying journey, a time when most help is required.

“Buying a first property can not only a daunting experience but as many will find, the lowest rung of the ladder can also the most financially difficult - especially for those without any help from the bank of mum and dad. The awards are a celebration of those who go that extra mile to help less experienced buyers into a home of their own and my congratulations goes to everyone involved.”

WhatHouse? was joined on the list of winners by a number of prestigious industry names, including Lovell, Taylor Wimpey, Peabody, Metro, Nationwide, Halifax and the Private Developer of the Year, Hodson Developments.
