Developing New Communities with Redrow Homes

Posted 1 August 2019 by Lizzie Leigh

This week we talk new homes with Martyn Pask, regional director at Redrow Homes, East Midlands...

Martyn Pask from Redrow Homes tells us about the growth of the East Midlands division, working with local communities to become the new neighbours, and how Help To Sell can make the difference.

Please tell us a bit about your role and responsibilities as regional director at Redrow Homes?

The role of regional director is to manage and develop the growing East Midlands Division of Redrow Homes and provide leadership to the business and the staff within it to ensure we build responsibly, provide thriving communities and value our people.

What is it that makes a Redrow home special?

The attention to detail makes the Redrow home special. Not just the detail of each of our house types, which are designed to carefully consider maximisation of space and the provision of character, but also how we design each one of our developments to provide a true sense of place in providing a thriving community.

Do you tend to have a certain 'type' of buyer of your properties or do they appeal to a wide range of people?

We provide a collection of homes to appeal to all prospective purchasers, whether they be first-time buyers, to growing families or downsizers who want to maintain a lifestyle requirement.

How does Redrow support and work within the local communities it builds in?

We do not lose sight that when Redrow is constructing a new development, we very much become new neighbours to an existing community and have obligations to ensure their wellbeing is maintained whilst we are developing the new communities. In addition, we carry out many community and volunteering activities to support our commitment to build thriving communities, such as providing charity events, welcome parties within our developments which allow our customers to meet each other, along with engaging with local schools and community facilities to provide our support to their needs.

Does buying a home from one of the biggest housebuilders in the UK give buyers an advantage, do you think?

Buying a Redrow home should provide our buyer with confidence in the knowledge that not only are they buying a new home from one of the most reputable house builders in the country, but also that they are buying a new home of great quality and design, and that they have selected to purchase from a 5-star builder where our customer satisfaction has been confirmed by our existing customers.

How is the new homes market performing across the country at the moment, are there pockets of success that really stand out to you?

Given the ongoing economic uncertainty surrounding the whole country at present, the housing market itself is performing quite strongly, particularly in the East Midlands where my operation is based. Fingers crossed this continues into 2020!

Do you offer any incentives to your buyers?

Along with the government’s Help to Buy initiative, we also have our own incentives to assist our customers, such as Help to Sell, where Redrow assist our customers in selling their current home and Ready Made, which provides our clients with a home which is complete and ready to move into.

What are the three most important things that people should consider when buying a new home?

Location will always be a key area that should be considered along with the suitability of the home to meet our customers’ lifestyle requirements. I would suggest the reputation of the builder in providing a quality home should also be considered.

And finally, what exciting projects are in the pipeline for you for the rest of 2019?

The growth of the East Midlands Division continues with new developments launching within Leicestershire at Saxon Meadows in Market Harborough, Clarence Fields in Leicester and Chantry Mews located at New Lubbesthorpe, Leicester.
