Saxon Reach by L&Q Homes - Show Home Room By Room

Posted 29 January 2020

WhatHouse? takes a tour of L&Q’s Saxon Reach development, located just outside Milton Keynes…

Situated on the outskirts of Milton Keynes, L&Q development Saxon Reach is a collection of 225 homes that will form a thriving new community in one of the UK’s fastest growing towns. Decorated to suit family living, Interiors Editor Rory Robertson takes a closer look at how to create an interior scheme that suits both children and adults.

Christine Osborne, Sales and Customer Services Director (Counties) at L&Q, comments:

“We are delighted to have launched our show homes at Saxon Reach, giving potential buyers a real feel for what everyday life could be like here. Designed with family living in mind, every room has been styled to amplify the space and offer an inspiration for what buyers might envision their own home to look like. We look forward to welcoming many first time buyers, families and young professionals to this flourishing area.”

Surbhi Kenth, Design consultant at Dapa Interior Design explains the influences behind the design of L&Q’s new show home, a 4 bedroom house complete with French doors leading to a turfed garden.

"We have tried to strike a balance for the interiors by working with luxury fabrics that will apeal to adults such as velvets and metallic finishes, whilst also mixing in fun elements to cater for the children like the quirky bed and rug in the kids bedroom."

Kitchen: The contemporary kitchen is styled with a modern, sleek aesthetic, blending colour-pops of terracotta and blue. We wanted to ensure the space was flexible, ready for both a quick family breakfast or a more formal occasion with friends. The overall feel is light, airy and contemporary. The island in the centre of the kitchen is the perfect space for preparing a family meal or hosting guests.

Living room: Designed to be the main hub of the house, the formal living room is a space for the whole family to spend time. The botanical greens throughout incorporate the sense of countryside that surrounds the development, while the blush tones add warmth. We designed a deep custom ‘L’ shape sofa, layered with textured and patterned statement cushions to contrast with the stylish ivory colour pallete that fills the room. The green velvet armchair and metallic coffee tables bring a certain touch of grown-up elegance to the space - drawing on a feeling of luxury.

For a similar chair try the Celine in Vienna Velvet Green Armchair, £195, Habitat.

Dining space: The dining area is styled as a sophisticated space for buyers to envisage hosting a dinner party or serving a sit down family dinner. The burnt orange leafy wallpaper zones the space and the botanical prints hung on the wall echo Saxon Reach’s countryside setting. The velvet dining chairs and brass candle holders add a touch of elegance, matching the golden table frame and creating a design flow from the living room.

The wallpaper is from fabric and wall covering specialist Casamance.

Master bedroom: Designed to reflect the profile of the potential purchaser, with modern styling in mind, we incorporated a strong colour palette into the master bedroom to appeal to the vibrant young demographic that we’ve had interest from at Saxon Reach. This includes Pantone’s colour of the year ‘Classic Blue’ which is recurrent throughout the space. The deep blues and soft blush tones sit behind a strong feature wallpaper, which is a focal point of the room, immediately drawing the eye in. Colourful artwork was selected to add to the vibrancy of the master bedroom.

The headboard is a bespoke commission, with fabric from Kirkby.

Bedroom 2: In order to create a sanctuary for prospective buyers to visualise themselves relaxing in, we continued the elegant palette into the second bedroom. Textures and colours are used to bring in a touch of luxury to the second bedroom at Saxon Reach. The brass bedside lamps draw out the other gold accents within the space, creating a harmonious interiors vibe. The plush carpet matches the ivory specification, and is repeated through the cushions, bed throw and curtains in this room.

Find a similar console with the Joss Oak Console Table, £285, from Perch and Parrow.

Children’s bedroom: Matching the contemporary colour scheme with the incorporation of the surrounding landscaping, the children’s bedroom features a monochrome woodland themed wallpaper, which sits behind the tent styled bed frame, adding a touch of creativity and playfulness to the room. We wanted to make sure that the children’s bedroom provided a play space for the kids to enjoy, so incorporated the - rather fun - blue smiling rug, and the table topped with a chalk board for the children to draw on.

Find a similarly fun children's bed at Maisons du Monde.

Main bathroom: Using a clean contemporary colour palette in the bathroom, we aimed to create a modern and super practical space that compliments rest of the show home. Wood-effect panelling along the bathtub and lining the in-built shelf gives the room a slightly rustic feel, balanced out by the chic blush towels and copper-ringed mirror. It's a user-friendly bathroom design, ideal for all the family.

Prices start from £364,995 for a three bedroom house, and £470,000 for a four bedroom house available through Help to Buy. To register your interest, visit lqhomes.com/saxonreach/or call 01908 031197.
