Location Influences Lowton Show Home Style

Featuring natural textures and a farm shop-themed children’s bedroom, a new show home from Elan Homes in Lowton reflects the trend for sustainable living.

At St Catherine’s Gardens, just a couple of miles from Pennington Flash Country Park, the 26 homes are complemented by electric vehicle charging points; bird boxes and bat bricks, plus planting additional trees while retaining existing trees.

The four-bedroom ‘Sheldon’ show home and three-bedroom ‘Fairford’ view home have been styled in keeping with the semi-rural location with much of the furniture re-purposed from other Elan developments.

Marie Morris, sales director for Elan Homes in the North, explained: “We design our show homes to look like real homes visitors can imagine themselves living in. People are increasingly aware of their impact on the environment, looking to reduce their use of plastic in favour of more sustainable materials, and investing in furnishings that will stand the test of time that can be accessorised to move with interior trends. Buyers are likely to move with most of their furniture from their previous property and replace over time and so we’ve tried to reflect this by re-using furniture from show homes at completed developments.”

Elan tasked Stanza Style with dressing the two properties.

The ‘Sheldon’ has been styled in spiced orange and copper, with accents of soft steel blue and mushroom.

Stanza Style’s Alex Egan said: “We’ve incorporated the trend for bringing natural textures into the home in the ‘Sheldon’. For example, in bedroom three we’ve used wallpaper made from real natural bamboo; the headboard is woven leather, the lamps are made from rattan and we’ve accessorised the bed with macramé cushions. In the lounge there’s a round mirror made from driftwood and woven rattan affect lamps.”

Statement-making black furniture in the dining room, including a full sideboard cabinet and six-seater dining table, creates a dramatic look for formal meal times, compared with the casual breakfast table in the kitchen.

Egan added: “Bedroom one has a glamorous feel with mushroom grey satin feature woven headboard, sequined bedding and mirrored bedsides and dressing table. The wallpaper features soft branches, almost like a watermark. A glass feature prism light fitting and art deco style lamps add to the ambience.”

The second bedroom has been styled in steel blue and stone, as a guest bedroom with a chrome and glass prism chandelier for a little bit of sparkle.

“We’ve created a child’s bedroom styled in soft steel blue and soft textures,” Alex explained. “It has a farm shop theme complete with a bespoke stall made from crates, which we’ve painted white, and accessorised with toy produce, till with scanner and card machine, evoking the affection people have for farm shops.”

A four-bedroom ‘Sheldon’, like the show home, is available from £299,995.

The ‘Fairford’ view home has been styled with accents of grey and mustard yellow. In the lounge there’s a corner sofa, statement chair with piped edging, with statement-making black console tables and black-framed mirrors. One of the bedrooms has a rowing theme, while the other two bedrooms are dressed in the on-trend neutral grey.

St Catherine’s Gardens, near Wigan in Greater Manchester, offers a choice of two-, three- and four-bedroom homes. Current prices start from £114,796 for a two-bedroom home available at discount to market value subject to criteria set by Wigan Council.
