The Axium By Court Collaboration - Show Home Room By Room

Posted 22 January 2020

WhatHouse? takes a tour of Court Collaboration’s stand-out two bedroom show apartment, part of The Axium development, situated at the heart of Birmingham city centre…

Striking interior colour accents and touches of velvet give The Axium a grown-up aesthetic and feel. The result? A chic and stylish sanctuary in the busy city, for new home buyers.

Jade Bowley, sales manager at Court Living, says:

“The Axium is a beautiful new development of 304 spacious one and two bedroom high-end apartments, providing the very best of city centre living and style. Designed with practicality and flexibility in mind, the spacious layouts offer luxury living just a stone’s throw from Birmingham’s bustling retail and leisure scene, as well as its impressive commuter links.”

Milc Interiors was responsible for creating the luxury-look two-bedroom show apartment.

Freya Reed, Senior Interior Designer at Milc, comments:

“We wanted to develop a design scheme which was an ode to Birmingham with its winding waterways to create an appealing and memorable space, which perfectly meets the demands of contemporary city living. By utilising a mixture of rich grown-up colour accents and sleek bespoke furniture, we’ve been able to create a welcoming oasis for homeowners to relax and unwind in. There's an underlying theme of monochrome - which helps ground this look and keep it somewhat timeless”

Reception room: The pendant cluster lighting offers a fun and playful statement that you just can't miss it! Contemporary, modular furniture and luxurious but understated soft furnishings are perfectly balanced for a sophisticated feel. Most importantly in this interior design scheme, the neutral tones are elevated with pops of rich colour tones. We have added in the ever-popular hints of gold metallic on furniture detailing and accessories. A generous, low-back sofa with velvet cushion bolsters offers a hint of luxurious hotel-style living to the look.

Kitchen and dining area: With autumnal burnt orange chairs offering both colour and texture, the kitchen and dining area seamlessly joins with the reception room to create one light filled and harmonious space. The dining chairs are the element of colour within this space. Meaning you get a kitchen that's colourful, but with base units and cupboards that remain in a neutral colour, giving great design longevity.

The high gloss finish of the kitchen reflects the abundance of natural light which floods the show apartment - helped by high-quality sheer curtains - creating a bright and spacious atmosphere.

Master bedroom: The relaxing master bedroom incorporates intricate detailing and soft furnishings to create a smart yet comfortable space. The monochrome tones and reflective bedside tables are classic and easily changed-up thanks to different coloured scatter cushions and throws.

Top tip: layer your bed, as seen here, with different sizes and shapes of scatter cushions for that extra layer of detail and maximum comfort. We particular like the use of plush velvet fabric which picks-up on the current homeware trend for using dark jewel-like colours and tactile finished.

Try Marks and Spencer Velvet Cushion selection to shop a wide range of jewel-like cushions.

Second bedroom: The second bedroom has been decorated with pastel tones and soft fabrics, a micro-trend that we at WhatHouse? are predicting will be popular for S/S 2020. Subtle golden highlights tie the room back into the wider design scheme, whilst a stand-out headboard demonstrates that you can make a real design statement in the second bedroom, making it a special space.
