Net Zero Designer Homes Launch In The Chilterns

Birch Grove is a collection of three luxury, eco-friendly houses set to launch in Chalfont St Giles...

A new development of just three spacious, architecturally striking net zero homes located in the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty AONB, is being launched next week.

Formerly an agricultural holding on the outskirts of the picturesque Buckinghamshire village of Chalfont St Giles, Birch Grove, was a disused and derelict Green Belt and AONB site that had remained a blemish on the landscape for almost 40 years. Over the last 18 months the site has been completely transformed into a restored natural environment by eco developer Millbank Homes.

The developer behind the project, Paul Higgs, founder of Millbank Group, remarked: “Chalfont St Giles is a prime location and we have transformed this once-redundant site into a place of beauty, creating three extraordinary, fully net zero homes. The overarching concept of Birch Grove is its biophilic design, focusing on the well-being of future occupants and enhancing the connection between people and nature.”

Birch GroveThe development comprises three homes, ‘Yarrow’, ‘Campion’ and ‘Blackthorn’, two of which are set out over a single level. These houses range in size from 4,390 sq ft to 5,085 sq ft on plots ranging from 0.7 to 1.2 acres, offering flexible layouts and various living options from five to seven bedrooms. All boast open-plan living areas and real wood burning fires, along with the latest in kitchen and bathroom design. Architecturally, they feature slatted timber cladding, flint work and Flemish bond brickwork sourced from Battersea Power Station. Energy-efficient features include solar panels, mechanical ventilation and heat recovery systems (MVHR), super-efficient Mixergy hot water cylinders, zoned underfloor heating and Air Source Heat Pumps.

Andy Toogood at selling agents Savills commented: “Birch Grove is a landmark development that pushes the boundaries of residential building performance, with a focus on energy efficiency and the natural environment. The transformation of this site has been remarkable. Consideration has been given to both the practicality and aesthetics of every property to seamlessly complement their surroundings. While each house has its own distinct ambiance, they all share common features. The state-of-the-art sustainability credentials are unparalleled, with no expense spared, resulting in a beautiful collection of homes crafted with meticulous attention to detail and to the highest specifications.”

Birch GrovePaul Higgs continued: “Birch Grove is where discerning architectural design and nature have converged to create luxury homes with a difference. Here, the beauty of the surroundings is effortlessly woven into every element to soothe the senses and enhance the living experience. You just won't find anything like this anywhere else."

Andy Toogood continued: “There is a strong demand for high-quality homes in well-served villages. Chalfont St Giles is a delightful example, it is very popular and continues to tick many of the boxes buyers are looking for. With its charming amenities and beautiful countryside, London is within easy reach, not to mention some of the very best private and public schools in the whole country, and a brand-new David Lloyd leisure club being built just 300m away from the development.”

With appeal for locals, commuters and those further afield, Birch Grove has excellent transport links, with Chalfont and Latimer station providing connections to London Marylebone via the Metropolitan Line and Chiltern Line in just 30 minutes. It is also in close proximity to the M25 and M40 motorways, offering easy access to Heathrow and the rest of the country.

Prices start from £4million. Find out more at www.birchgrove.homes or www.millbankgroup.co.uk.
