Planning For The Future at Taylor Wimpey’s Edlogan Wharf

Posted 29 May 2018 by Helen Christie

A Torfaen couple are planning for the future after Taylor Wimpey helped them upsize at Edlogan Wharf in Cwmbran...

Sophie James, 29, and Vincent Wilkinson, 32, were keen to move out of their existing house and into a new build so they could get on with their lives straight away, without having to worry about expensive repairs.

After an extensive search they settled on Cwmbran, and sat down with an independent financial advisor to discuss the options available at the development. The couple had set their sights on a three-bedroom home, but a conversation with their financial advisor made it clear that a bigger home was possible if they moved to Edlogan Wharf.

Sophie says: “We were looking at three-bedroom homes because that’s what we already had, and we thought we couldn’t afford a four-bedroom property. The financial advisor did a couple of sums and priced us for a four-bedroom and it ended up being more affordable than we thought. We thought about it and put our house on the market thinking it would take six months, but it sold really fast. It went really quickly and the process was brilliant. We had a really old house and didn’t want to renovate. We wanted to be in there and be able to make it our own.”

Sophie and Vincent were looking for a home to grow into, so the size of the rooms was key. They looked around the Eskdale showhome and, in Sophie’s words, ‘fell in love’. But they are also dog lovers, and wanted French door access from the kitchen rather than the lounge. Luckily, the Kentdale houstype was also available, and within a few short weeks the couple had moved in.

Sophie says: “We used the Easymover scheme, and that was really good. The sales staff and our financial advisor were fantastic - they were with us every second of the day and were helping us, rather than pressuring us. They really went above and beyond.”

The couple are settling into their new community and have already met many of their neighbours. They both work in Newport, which is easily accessible from Cwmbran by road and rail, and are now settled into their new home and excited about what the future holds.

“I love our front room - it’s huge,” continues Sophie. “I love the kitchen. We bought it bare without any extras so we’ve slowly been decorating, which is quite nice.

“There is plenty of room for children. It’s great to have the four bedrooms because of the extra space. We are just taking our time and doing it very well, because it’s our forever house.”

A selection of two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom homes are available at Edlogan Wharf, starting at £159,995.
