Off-Plan Retirement Homes Released For Sale In Topsham

Posted 4 February 2022 by Helen Christie

Exclusive properties at McCarthy Stone’s Pym Court Retirement Living Plus development are due to be released for off-plan sales this weekend…

Retirees in Topsham are invited to make the most of their first opportunity to reserve one of the brand new apartments at McCarthy Stone’s forthcoming Pym Court Retirement Living Plus development, as the exclusive properties set to be released for off-plan sales from 5 February.

The Pym Court development in Topsham has already received a high level of interest amongst retirees who are looking to downsize to an apartment within a community full of like-minded people. When complete, Pym Court will comprise of 53 one- and two-bedroom apartments, with the first occupants expected in summer 2022.

The sales release at Pym Court also marks an important milestone for the Topsham community, as, once complete, it is set to bring a financial boost to the local area.

According to the latest report by Homes for Later Living, retirement housing creates more local economic value and local jobs than any other type of residential development. It is also estimated that those living in a typical retirement development, such as Pym Court, will generate £550,000 of spending per year, with £347,000 going to local shops on the high street1. This will in turn help to support retail jobs and further enhance the local economy in Topsham.

Verity McKay, divisional marketing manager at McCarthy Stone Southern, says: “The past two years has been challenging for everyone, but high streets up and down the country have been particularly affected by the pandemic. The forthcoming Pym Court Retirement Living Plus development is set to provide added investment for the Topsham area, as it has been reported that people living in retirement housing are more likely to spend money locally than people of the same age living elsewhere1. This will ultimately help keep local shops and services in Topsham open, whether it be the butchers or the local café, and will benefit many other businesses that often make up the heart of our communities.”

Once complete, Pym Court will provide everything the over-70s could want for an enjoyable and independent retirement. Bridging the gap between conventional retirement living and residential care, an estate manager and experienced team will be on hand day and night to oversee the running of the development and will also provide tailored support packages to suit individual needs.

The development will feature a large communal lounge - perfect for getting to know new neighbours - as well as an on-site bistro, which will serve fresh and nutritious meal options for homeowners every day.
