Childhood Sweethearts Find ‘The One’ At Bluebell Meadow

Roy and Hilary found a dream home at a Jones Homes development in Wisborough Green, West Sussex...

Do you believe in love at first sight? After visiting Bluebell Meadow in the quaint West Sussex village of Wisborough Green, house-hunting couple Roy and Hilary Broadhurst certainly do.

The childhood sweethearts, now in their early 70s, were looking to move from their previous home, a converted barn in Lower Beeding with over an acre of garden space, to somewhere easier to maintain. After their search for the perfect match in the Horsham area proved fruitless, Hilary and Roy cast the net wider and found ‘the one’ at Jones Homes’ Bluebell Meadow development.

Hilary, who worked as a teacher at The College of Richard Collyer in Horsham for more than 26 years, said: “We wanted to find a home that wouldn’t require lots of work and maintenance. We had looked at so many different properties in and around Horsham – bungalows, older properties, new builds – and none of them felt right.

“One night I decided to widen the search and found Bluebell Meadow. The next morning, I called the site and booked an appointment right away.

“When we came to the development, it all fell into place. Every house we have bought we have fallen in love with right away and this was no different – it was love at first sight.”

Hilary and Roy have bought a ‘Chiddingfold’ house type, a spacious four-bedroom home with an integral garage.

The retired couple, who are originally from Somerset, met when they were 17, married at 23 and bought their first flat in Horsham shortly after. Since then, they have lived in a wide range of properties in the West Sussex area.

Hilary said: “When looking to move this time, we wanted to remain in the area for a number of reasons: the first being that we wanted to remain close to our daughter and grandchildren who live not too far away. But it was also the area. West Sussex is wonderful – it’s full of beautiful countryside and it has great connections like Gatwick which is only a short drive away. If I want to go shopping, there are so many options from Horsham to Worthing to Chichester, and there are great connections to London, too.

“When we purchased in Wisborough Green we were really pleased to find out about all the great activities in the area in the parish magazine. It’s a very charming village with a well-established community that we can’t wait to become a part of.”

The final selection of three- and four-bedroom homes are currently available at Bluebell Meadow, some of which are ready to move into right away. Buyers can save up to £15,000 with the Stamp Duty holiday if they move in before 31 March 2021.

Jones Homes has recently opened the doors to a new four-bedroom show home at Bluebell Meadow, allowing interested buyers able to arrange a one-to-one appointment to see the style of the homes at first-hand.
