New Development Set To Become Part Of Garden City In Whitstable

Posted 31 December 2021 by Helen Christie

A new development in Whitstable is to become the latest part of the newly proposed “Garden City” – with community and sustainability at its heart…

Taking inspiration from the late urban planner Ebenezer Howard, Hyde New Homes’ Whitstable Heights will follow his progressive vision shared in his 1898 text, “Tomorrow: A Peaceful Path to Real Reform.”

The text describes holistically planned new settlements which provide high-quality, affordable housing and locally accessible jobs in “beautiful, healthy and sociable” communities. It is this inspirational ethos that Whitstable Heights follows.

The development currently has a selection of three-, four- and five-bedroom homes available for outright sale. These stylish homes are suitable for first-time buyers and young families, with prices starting at £399,640. A number of Shared Ownership properties are set to launch in the New Year, with prices yet to be confirmed.

For commuters, there is ample opportunity to travel easily. Whitstable station is less than a mile from the development and provides a half-hourly connection to London Victoria, Margate, and Faversham and Chatham. Journeys can also be made to Sittingbourne, Broadstairs and Rochester.

There is also a popular bus service which runs every 15 minutes towards Herne, Canterbury and Whitstable centre, while picturesque cycle paths provide a direct route to Faversham, Herne Bay and Whitstable High Street.

Families will also benefit from the development’s convenient location. An ‘Outstanding’ OFSTED rated school lies just over one mile away, while a ‘Good’ rated secondary, The Whitstable School, can be found 0.3 miles north of the development.

Minnie Dando, head of marketing and communications says: “Garden Cities were among the first attempts at sustainable developments, and the principles which form these are still very much in use today.

“We have made it a priority to ensure all the key principles have been used while planning Whitstable Heights, including building for the benefit of the community, high-quality imaginative homes and generous open green space.”

Minnie continues: “We have no doubt that Whitstable Heights will be a hugely popular place to live. For young professionals, the town’s bustling high street provides an array of bars, restaurants and boutique shops, while those seeking adventure will appreciate being nearby the rugged coastline, and the region’s stunning nature reserves.

“It is a premium choice for buyers seeking different lifestyle experiences, from happy school days to idyllic retirements enjoying shellfish in the harbour area. There truly is something for everyone.”
