Family Find Their Perfect Home In Broad Blunsdon
Sarah Lloyd, Alan Downie and their son Harry, were previously living in a three-bedroom home in the Oxfordshire village of Southmoor before making the move to Wiltshire.
They have upgraded to a four-bedroom detached Harcourt home, which features a spectacular open-plan kitchen and family area.
Sarah Lloyd says: “We were looking for a home that met all of our needs in terms of space and layout. The Harcourt is so well designed, and all the living spaces are very generous. The hallway is stunning, and then the open plan kitchen and family area is where I can see us spending most of our time. The quality of the specification and amount of light flooding in makes it such a relaxing and calm space, while also being the hub of the home. Having a dedicated downstairs home office is another great feature.

“Upstairs is equally roomy and it feels luxurious to have an en-suite and dressing area off the main bedroom. When our son is home from university, he will enjoy using the family bathroom next to his bedroom.
“The move to this picturesque part of Wiltshire will enable us to explore the countryside and get involved with what’s going on in the local community. We are really looking forward to seeing the Blunsdon community shop and café open right here at Hayfield Wood in the coming months.”
Hayfield Wood is located off Sams Lane in the old historic core of Broad Blunsdon, close to local amenities and schooling. Over 85% of Hayfield Wood’s 70 homes have already been sold off-plan, well ahead of the build programme. The final four- and five-bedroom houses are priced from £595,000 to £800,000. A ‘handyman for a day’ is provided to all purchasers, and Hayfield’s exclusive Key Worker Discount of £5,000 is available to all those who meet the criteria.
Each home benefits from a room with sound-reducing insulation to create the perfect home office. All homes also feature ultra-fast broadband connectivity, an electric car charging point and underfloor heating. A new woodland currently being planted by Hayfield will feature 4,755 native trees and shrubs, and the 16-acre scheme will also include a new community shop, café and wildflower meadow.
The collection of homes features Hayfield’s luxurious specification, including bespoke Manor Interiors kitchens, ROCA and Laufen bathrooms, Minoli ceramic tiles, heritage bronze ironmongery, key lighting features and Farrow & Ball paint. Hayfield Wood has been designed around an array of mature trees that are being retained and incorporated within the expansive development area. Meanwhile, the newly planted woodland will stretch to well over an acre, creating a natural landscape buffer with the neighbouring 13th Century St Leonard’s Church.
Broad Blunsdon lies six miles north of the centre of Swindon, with the A419 forming the village’s southern boundary. The sought-after village was mentioned in the Domesday Book. Following thorough analysis of the existing high-quality architectural vernacular, the selection of house designs are being constructed in a mix of red brick and reconstituted stone, taking inspiration from traditional properties in the village.
Hayfield Wood’s award-winning show home is open daily from 10am – 5pm, located off Sams Lane, Broad Blunsdon, Wiltshire, SN26 7AZ.
Hayfield won the prestigious 2021 Housebuilder of the Year Award at the WhatHouse? Awards.
