Paralympic Hopeful Relocates To Be Closer To Her Horses

A dressage rider is hoping for an easier ride on the road to the Paralympics by cutting her commute by two hours.

Georgia Chambers, 23, relocated from her family home in Portsmouth to be closer to her horses, who are stabled in Gloucestershire. She found an ideal two-bedroom bungalow from Edenstone Homes at St Mary’s Garden Village in Ross-On-Wye.

The move means she’s around 20 minutes from her horses, rather than more than two hours away, enabling her to increase her training.

“I’ve had prizes and a few rosettes and won one competition so far, but now I have a new horse and will be living closer I hope to improve and win a few more,” Georgia said. “Training had to stop because of coronavirus but I’m just getting back into it now and hope to compete in the Paralympics in the dressage events.”

She explained: “I keep my horses in Hartpury and recently bought a new one and decided to move up to Ross-On-Wye to be closer to them.”

It was when she was going riding that Georgia spotted that Edenstone Homes was building bungalows at the growing St Mary’s Garden Village development.

“I decided to have a look at the show home and ended up buying one of the two-bedroom bungalows,” Georgia said. “I didn’t think I would be buying a house at such a young age, but I have a good career ahead of me and it’s made me feel a lot more independent.”

“It’s perfect for me as it’s close to the countryside and my horses. I wanted a bungalow because having everything on one level without any stairs is a lot easier for me with my disability,” Georgia, who has cerebral palsy, explained. “I get quite tired quickly and lose a lot of energy, especially in the summer when it’s hot, but every day is different.”
