Couple hit the jackpot with dream home in Goostrey

Ben SalisburyA couple buying a new home say they can’t believe their luck after finding their dream home in Goostrey.
With both of their children now at university, Steve and Carolyn Chew-Graham had considered moving out of their house in Cheadle Hulme and relocating to the south coast.
But after deciding they weren’t ready to retire, Steve and Carolyn looked instead to rural Cheshire for their perfect property – and discovered that Bloor Homes’ The Woodlands development had everything they were looking for.
Just a few weeks after visiting the site, Steve, a research nurse at The University of Manchester and based at Salford Royal Hospital, and Carolyn, a GP who runs her own practice in Manchester and is a Professor at Keele University, had completed the purchase of their new five-bedroom detached home.
The couple say it already feels as if they have been living in the village forever, such has been the welcome they have received from the locals.
Steve said: “We were looking for somewhere that was rural but not isolated and that is really difficult to find. We feel like we have hit the jackpot in Goostrey. We are just three miles from the motorway yet our surroundings are just so beautiful and quiet.”
“We looked at older houses, but given the work and the costs that would be involved in bringing them up to current standards it was a no-brainer to go for a new build.
“What impressed us about The Woodlands was the location, and the quality and size of the home. It’s a solidly built house, very well proportioned with high ceilings and there is great use of light, particularly in the kitchen.”
“The sales advisor, Heather, has been incredibly helpful and there has been a real ‘can-do’ attitude from everyone at Bloor during the whole process. We used Bloor’s recommended solicitors who were brilliant and enabled us to move in within just three weeks. The experience we have had has just been wonderful.”
Commenting on their new life in Goostrey, Steve added: “It feels like we have been here forever. People are just so welcoming and want you to take part in village life. It’s just a fantastic place to live.”
