Townhouse Ticks The Boxes For First-Time Buyers

The stylish Chinkwell townhouse at Cavanna Homes’ new community, Cavanna @ Elm Park on the outskirts of Exeter that ticked all the boxes for first-time buyers Nadia Davey and Jordan Bastin.

The couple had been on the lookout for their first home since the beginning of this year and explored a number of new build developments in Exeter, before setting their sights on the new neighbourhood located between Alphington and Exminster.

Jordan, 25, and Nadia, 26, love the location of Cavanna @ Elm Park as it’s close to Nadia’s work in the city centre and well connected to the M5 for Jordan to get to Weston-super-Mare where he trains and plays for Weston A.F.C.

Nadia, who co-owns the makeup and beauty salon, The Glam Bar Exeter, says: “When we first visited Cavanna @ Elm Park, we knew it was the place for us –the neighbourhood looked so welcoming even in its early stages. We originally had our eye on the three-bedroom Haytor which has a gorgeous breakfast bar in the kitchen, however there were none available to reserve at the time, so we decided to hold on until the next ones were due to be released in June 2022.”

She explains: “We were away on holiday when we got the call about the newly released Haytors but found out that they weren’t going to be available to purchase using the Help to Buyscheme. Liana, the sales advisor came to our rescue though and told us about the Chinkwell townhouse which was available on Help to Buy AND with gold specification fixtures and fittings…We were instantly sold!”

The Chinkwell has an open-plan kitchen/dining area, separate lounge, downstairs cloakroom, three bedrooms and a family bathroom, spread across three spacious levels. Nadia continues: “It’s the perfect first home for us and the kitchen even has a breakfast bar which is what I loved the most about the Haytor! Jordan currently lives in a townhouse too, so it’s what he’s used to.”

The pair were just in time to reserve the home off-plan so that they could personalise it from the get-go by selecting all their fixtures and fittings. “This was the most exciting part of the journey for me! I love a neutral colour palette and have decided on a beige and black theme with splashes of gold throughout. I was particularly set on having gold handles for the kitchen cupboards and was thrilled when I found out Cavanna Homes’ options range included the very same gold handles I was envisaging!”

Nadia and Jordan have already planned the layout of their new townhouse and explain: “We’re pretty sure that we’ll have our bedroom on the first floor with the en-suite bathroom. On the top level will be the guest room and dressing room which is already fitted with mirrored wardrobes – I can’t wait.”

The couple were amazed to find out that their garden will be laid with turf ahead of completion meaning they can focus on accessorising the outdoor space ready for their housewarming party. Nadia says: “I’m thinking of an outdoor seating area with a fire pit – Love Island style! We’re also looking forward to having time to move and settle in before Christmas, which Jordan and I have agreed to host this year.”
