Globetrotting Couple Return To Glasgow

Helen ChristieSince Renée and Ian got married more than 18 years ago, they’ve lived all over Scotland and overseas in places such as Dubai and America however they’ve always kept a home in Glasgow as it has a special place in their hearts.
Looking for more space for themselves and their two dogs Alphie and Buddy, they decided to sell their previous property in Glasgow’s west end and move to the Cala’s Prince’s Quay development in the city centre. Both now retired, Renée, a former academic psychologist, and Ian, a former director at Weir Pumps were looking for a change of scene and a home that suits them and both their dogs, ideally located next to green space.
Renée says: “We have enjoyed many years in the west end of Glasgow however it was time for a change, especially as we felt we needed more space for the dogs. When we discovered Prince’s Quay and its amazing location, we couldn’t believe it. It’s right next to Festival Park, which is perfect for walking the dogs, the location is central for everything.”
The couple purchased a three-bedroom duplex home at Cala Homes’ (West) Prince’s Quay development, located in Glasgow’s Media City, and moved in spring this year.
The Torrance duplex is exclusive to this development, offers the best of city living with the benefits of main door access, private parking and their new home is situated across from the communal courtyard. The home is set across two storeys with a spacious open plan living, kitchen and dining area as well as a utility room, a pantry and downstairs WC. Upstairs each of the three bedrooms are fitted with wardrobes and the main bedroom enjoys an en-suite and dressing area.

Renée continues: “The big selling point for us was the space throughout the home especially in the living area, the layout suits all of our needs and the pantry was a huge plus. We love that the top floor is like our own suite, where we have our bedroom, one spare bedroom we use as a snug and the other is used as an office space plus we have our own bathrooms which is fab. We carefully selected our plot because we loved the location within the big courtyard and there were attractive incentives which helped us make the move. We were able to choose the flooring, lighting, blinds and curtains which we were delighted about. We reserved our last home off plan so we were aware of the many benefits of buying a new build. We’ve lived in both older properties and new builds but overall, we prefer brand new homes, Prince’s Quay had everything we were looking for.”
Having visited their new home once they got the keys, Ian’s parents also fell in love with the development and they have purchased a two-bedroom Cameron garden flat, which is only minutes from Renée and Ian.
With Finnieston only a stone’s throw away and easy access to the city centre, southside and the west end, Prince’s Quay offers city living at its best.
Renée adds: “Living all over the world, we have had many homes since getting married and this is by far our favourite. Since our home is located just steps away from the Village Hotel, we’ve become more active, and we enjoy going swimming together. Our lifestyle has changed for the better thanks to the city location, we couldn’t live without our membership now. Since we moved in, we have also enjoyed a Meet the Neighbours event, hosted by Cala, which was great, we really appreciated the opportunity to meet our new neighbours and we’ve seen them socially since then, which is lovely.”
There are currently only five duplex homes remaining at Prince’s Quay with homes ready to move in early next year.
Prices for the Torrance duplex homes at Prince’s Quay start at £409,995.
