Downsizing Is Perfect Solution For Larbert Buyer

Posted 21 February 2022 by Helen Christie

Jane downsized from her large home in Edinburgh to a CALA home in Larbert…

The pandemic has made many of us rethink our lifestyles and prompt us to make changes which we had long been thinking of.

This was exactly the case for Jane Hamilton who had lived in Edinburgh for many years. When the pandemic began, she realised how far she was from her daughter and grandchildren.

Jane says: “I lived in a large, detached home with a huge garden. However, now that I live alone, and following the pandemic, I decided to think about moving to somewhere that was closer to my family and easier to upkeep.

“Originally I was looking at the cottages at CALA’s development in Balerno but my daughter was quick to point out that would mean moving further away. She lived in Larbert which is very much in the central belt, which is where we spotted CALA’s Kinnaird Lee development.

“We travelled to North Berwick to view a show home and my daughter and I both fell in love with plot 13, an Avon which is a three-bedroom home. At that point, Covid struck and I paused my search. When I eventually got back in touch with the lovely sales team at CALA Homes’ Kinnaird Lee, I found out the home I loved, which had been reserved by someone else, was back on the market - it felt like fate. I booked an appointment the following Sunday and I reserved it right there and then.”

Jane purchased a semi-detached Avon which consists of an open-plan kitchen and dining area, complete with French doors leading out to the garden at the rear of the house. The formal lounge at the front of the home overlooks a shared lawn block.

Upstairs, there are three bedrooms, two of which have fitted wardrobes, whilst the main bedroom has also boasts an en-suite.

Jane continues: “I loved the development and with so many housetypes to choose from it was difficult to decide on ‘the one’, however after having looked at all my options I fell in love with the style and design of the Avon. One of the many factors I love is that the lounge was not positioned on the side of the house adjoining my neighbours, plus it was a brilliant size for relaxing in and having family over.

“Downsizing was definitely the right decision for me, and I still have really spacious, open rooms but it is now more manageable for just me, especially the garden. I’ve had my friends over and they absolutely love my new home, the lounge is perfect for having guests as is having the spare rooms so they can stay over.

“Another of the many benefits is being closer to my daughter and getting to spend more time with my granddaughters as they are only a short walk away. I also promised them I would get a dog when I moved which they were thrilled about. My new home is the perfect size for me and my dachshund puppy, Chester.”

Kinnaird Lee is now fully reserved, however homebuyers still have the opportunity to make the move to CALA Homes’ sister development in the sought-after location of Kinnaird Village.

Kinnaird Wynd offers a collection of stylish one- and- two-bedroom apartments and due to recent interest, is down to its final six apartments.

Prices at Kinnaird Wynd begin at £140,000 for a one-bedroom apartment and £194,000 for a two-bedroom apartment.
