Sales Consultant Buys New Home At Workplace

Helen ChristieBovis Homes sales consultant Matt Morrison persuaded his fiancée to buy a home at the location where he works after giving her a ‘Dragons' Den’ style presentation.
Matt, 30, who is based at Hounsome Fields in Basingstoke, where Bovis Homes and Linden Homes are building properties, was determined to buy a new home on the development.
Matt says: “I sell houses for Bovis Homes and Linden Homes, so I know just how well-built their properties are and how they pride themselves on putting the customer first and ensuring that they get the best service possible. When I heard we had released a two-bedroom coach house at Hounsome Fields, I knew it would be the perfect house for as first-time buyers. I went all out to convince Kayleigh that we should go for it. I got her to sit down and make herself comfortable and pitched the sale like I was on Dragons' Den, connecting my laptop to the TV and working my way through the floor plan, room by room. The presentation went on for hours, after imagining how our new home would be. It worked though because she loved the plans and we reserved the property the very next day.”
Matt and Kayleigh, a 29-year-old cabin crew manager, were living in a two-bedroom rented house in Ash, in Surrey, but decided it made sense to buy their own home.
Matt continues: “We got engaged after I proposed on a beach in Mauritius in September 2022, so we had made that commitment to each other. Once we had got engaged, it seemed like the logical step to buy a property together so that we were investing in our future rather than paying off our landlord’s mortgage. Once Kayleigh had agreed to the coach house, we got the mortgage deal approved and I went through the house-buying process like any other customer. We were buying early off-plan, so were able to choose the style of kitchen, the worktops, the flooring, the tiles and where we wanted the electric sockets. The best advantage of working here, was that I was able to see the property being built throughout and watch as it took shape during all stages of the build. It was really exciting.”

The couple, who moved into their new home in May 2023, said open-plan living and a back garden were exactly what they wanted in their first home.
Matt adds: “We are future-proofing by buying this house because we have a spare bedroom for guests and another room to become a nursery in the future. Having the back garden is brilliant because Kayleigh runs a part-time nail business called ‘The Gel Garden’, so we can put up a summer house where she can operate from without impinging on our space inside. It’s great to have an en-suite in our bedroom and a separate bathroom but our favourite room is the huge kitchen/dining/living space. It’s so impressive that whenever friends or relatives visit, they always comment on the design. When people come over, we all congregate in the open-plan space and it just works. This layout is ideal for us as it suits our laid-back lifestyle.”
Matt said he knew they would not regret the decision to buy their first home together from Bovis Homes, which, along with Linden Homes and Countryside Homes, is part of Vistry Group.
He concludes: “I have been working for Vistry for over two years now and it’s a great place to work. It really is like a big family and they really look after you. During the house-buying journey the sales manager Nic James, site manager Wayne Harris and build director Kyle Munden, were constantly in touch to see if I needed any help, as were all my sales colleagues. There was never any question who we would buy a house from, it was a real no-brainer.”
There is currently a choice of two- to five-bedroom new homes available to reserve at Hounsome Fields, with prices starting at £357,500.
