Bricklayer Ryan Curry has helped build more than 100 homes but one stands out more than most – the house he’s bought with partner Natalie Lewis at Parc Ceirw Garden Village in Morriston.
Ryan started off as an apprentice bricklayer five years ago and has been working on Edenstone Group developments across South Wales and the South West of England for around two years. He estimates he’s been involved in the construction of more than 100 homes, but the opportunity to be involved in building his own home was one he didn’t want to miss.
“I love my job and find it exciting to see the homes taking shape anyway, but knowing that it’s my own house gives me an extra boost,” Ryan said. “And, of course, working on site means I got to see the different stages of the build more than other homebuyers would.”
Over the course of five years, Parc Ceirw Garden Village will deliver circa 300 new homes from the Edenstone Group’s two housing brands, Edenstone Homes and Bluebell Homes.
First time buyers Ryan and Natalie moved into their new home on the Bluebell phase at the end of January.
“We knew early on in our relationship that we wanted to live together and have been saving for a deposit for three years. Lockdown helped boost our savings as we’ve not been able to go out socialising as we would normally,” beauty therapist Natalie explained. “Before we’d even started looking for a home of our own Ryan said this was the best site he had worked on because of the materials and quality of the build. We went to see the show homes and they were stunning.”
‘Alveston’ house type
The couple’s new home is a three-bedroom ‘Alveston’ style property.
“Ryan and his colleagues have done an amazing job on the house. It’s nice that he can tell people he helped build it,” Natalie added. “We’ve been able to choose the finish of the kitchen and the bathroom tiles. We’ve gone for neutral colours so that we can switch things up easily. There’s only the two of us, so we don’t need anything bigger. It’s perfect for us. It has a big open-plan kitchen and dining room, which will be great for when we can have people round.”
Along with new homes, Parc Ceirw Garden Village will also offer a new community park with equipped children’s play area, kick-about area for playing sports, a dedicated dog walking area and a circular fitness trail. There will also be a new community hub, featuring a studio and gym, plus there will be cycle hire facilities for residents’ use.
Between Bluebell Homes and Edenstone Homes, Parc Ceirw Garden Village offers a wide selection of properties including bungalows and two-storey homes. Find out more at edenstonehomes.com or www.bluebellhomes.co.uk.
