New Year, New Phase At Leading Housebuilder’s Tooting Development

Foxglove House at Springfield Place will consist of 18 one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, available for private sale from £450,000.

Due to complete in summer 2022, the phase is expected to sell exceptionally quickly, having already attracted a large number of first-time buyers priced out of neighbouring Balham and Wandsworth. Springfield Place is the first new build development to be available within the 82-acre Springfield Village residential neighbourhood, which is being created in the former grounds of the historic Springfield University Hospital. Bordering leafy Wandsworth Common and connecting Tooting Bec to Earlsfield, the village will total over 800 new homes, of which 300 will make up Springfield Place.

An on-site café, retail space, public square, provision for a new primary school, and a 32-acre park will be part of the wider area transformation. When finished, the new public parkland will be the first of its kind since the 2012 London Olympics.

Helping to set the scene at Springfield Village, the central Grade II listed former hospital building is being carefully restored creating an architecturally rich and diverse landscape, including a listed chapel set in the public square at the heart of the site.

New and old will continue to sit side by side, where feature balconies and brick colour have been thoughtfully chosen to complement the existing architecture. Future releases will include two and three-bedroom houses set back on attractive mews streets, in addition to apartments.

The masterplan of the site has been developed by South West London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust (SWLSTG) and includes the development of modern mental health facilities.

Getting around couldn’t be easier for residents, being just a 10-minute walk from Tooting Bec Underground with connections to London Bridge in under 18 minutes. Wandsworth Common and Earlsfield National Rail stations are also within walking distance.

Neighbouring Tooting Bec and Earlsfield offer a lively entertainment scene, and the area has a thriving foodie culture with Tooting Market, gastro pubs, Michelin-star and fine-dining restaurants on the doorstep. The borough of Wandsworth boasts over 1,700 acres of green space with Tooting Common, the largest, also home to the famous Tooting Bec Lido – the UK’s largest freshwater swimming pool by surface area.

Apartments at Springfield Place offer flowing, open-plan living, stylish fitted kitchens with integrated appliances, ample storage throughout, and all come with either a large private balcony and/or outdoor terrace. Prices in the new phase start from £450,000.
