A Cosy Christmas in a New Home

Helen ChristieRhys McGrath and Charlene Waterson felt the development would be the perfect place to bring up their one-year-old son, Clayton.
As Rhys, 28, explains: “Before we knew he was coming along, we had been renting, but I didn’t want that uncertainty for my little family. So we moved in with Charlene’s parents to save the money for a house of our own.
“We chose Saxon Fields because we knew the area well and liked it; it’s a nice little village between Norwich and Great Yarmouth and has great transport links which makes the commute easy. It’s also got good schools and other amenities nearby.”
There are just three homes left at Saxon Fields, which has proved hugely popular with families, downsizers and with couples wanting their first house. To meet demand from people keen to live in the desirable area, Kier Living Eastern is now building homes ten miles away at Roundhouse Gate, Cringleford.
Contract manager Rhys and support worker Charlene, 30, opted for a three-bedroom detached house at Saxon Fields, using the government-backed Help to Buy scheme.
Rhys continues: “I was a bit nervous at first because I’d never been through the process before. Katrina in the sales office was fantastic when we had questions. She told us everything we needed to know. We used the solicitors and finance company recommended; they work together on a regular basis so that made everything go more smoothly.”
Now the family have settled into their new home, they are making the most of the features on offer. Rhys said the garden has lots of space for Clayton to toddle around, while the open-plan kitchen/dining room makes for a sociable environment. He says: “We were able to pick out the kitchen colours and choose the worktops which I enjoyed; it means the kitchen is to our taste and has a unique twist.”
He adds: “The windows maximise the light upstairs and downstairs. We’ve also got a separate utility room and a garage, and lots of storage space. It’s been really nice settling into our new home together.”
Sales and marketing director David Thomas says: “We are delighted to hear how well Rhys, Charlene and Clayton are settling into Saxon Fields. We hope they have a fantastic Christmas in their new home and a very happy future there.”
The remaining homes at Saxon Fields are a three-bedroom house from The Bluebell range, priced at £275,000, and two four-bedroom properties in The Eversden style, starting at £369,995. For more information, visit kierliving.co.uk or call the sales office on 07712 246842.
