Friends Find First Home At Brentwood Development

Two friends have purchased a two-bedroom apartment at Warley HQ in Brentwood…

When good friends Ryan Green and Jack Morphew decided to club together to buy their first home at just 23, they didn’t expect to find their dream apartment in just three months.

Ryan, a recruitment consultant, says: “Jack and I have been friends for nearly 10 years after meeting on a school exchange trip to Spain. At first we didn’t get along, and if someone had told us we would end up buying a property together we would have laughed. Nonetheless, our friendship evolved into a close one over the years and we decided to assert our independence by getting onto the property ladder as soon as we could. By combining our savings, we were able to become property owners sooner than if we had gone through the purchasing process separately.”

The friends embarked on their search for a new home and ultimately came across Warley HQ in Brentwood. 

Ryan continues: “We had looked at a number of new builds and were disappointed by the quality of the fixtures and how remote they were in terms of location. But then one of my relatives told me they had driven past the site for Warley HQ and that according to the signage there was an open sales suite and a few show apartments available to view. I immediately went to visit the scheme and I was blown away by the development as well as the incredible amenities on-site.”

Located on the former headquarters of the Ford Motor Company, itself located on the site of the old Warley regimental depot and barracks, Warley HQ created by developer Landcharter, is a development of 330 luxury, one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, all of which come with parking.

The development’s in-house amenities make it stand head and shoulders apart from any local competition. “The range of amenities is what really caught our interest,” says Ryan. “Everything you could need is on your doorstep. Furthermore, we wanted the opportunity to be part of the unique community that was being established in the building.”

Jack and Ryan decided to purchase a two-bedroom, two bathroom 899 sq. ft. property on the fourth floor for £405,000 and ultimately moved into Warley HQ on 23 December. They made use of the available Help to Buy scheme as it provided the opportunity of a lower upfront deposit.

The appeal of the apartment and its amenities was further heightened by the location of the development. Set in Brentwood, Essex, the area offers residents easy access to an abundance of shops, salons, and restaurants. Brentwood town centre offers shopping concentrated on the High Street and older, bijou side streets in the conservation area, such as Crown Street. Perfectly connected to The City and beyond, Brentwood is a convenient alternative to London living. Liverpool Street Station is just a 40 minute journey away, Heathrow 72 minutes and Stansted International airport just 30 - 40 minutes away.

Ryan concludes: “Jack and I both grew up in Brentwood. In fact, we had one of our first job's collecting golf balls at the local driving range. It’s an area we know and love so we were happy to invest in property here. Also, the fact that Warley HQ is close to all major road networks going into London is perfect for Jack who works as an electrician. It’s also easy for me as it’s a twenty minute walk to the station which means I can easily commute to my office in London.”
