Moved Just In Time To Welcome First Baby

Taylor Wimpey has recently welcomed a new first-time buying family to its Church View development in Hoo...

Gemma Blackney and her partner Josh Stewart have started life as parents in their dream home at Taylor Wimpey’s Church View development in Hoo.

The couple, both aged 28, moved into the two-bedroom ‘Canford’ house type in October 2020 just before welcoming their daughter Elsie in November 2020.

Whilst living with Gemma’s parents in Gravesend, the couple decided it was time to look for their first home after finding out they were expecting their first child. Gemma said: “Finding out I was pregnant gave us a kick start to our house-hunting – we realised we needed a lot more room!”

The couple decided to look at Taylor Wimpey’s Church View development after the housebuilder was recommended to them by friends. Josh said: “Our friends had a really good experience buying from Taylor Wimpey. We knew we wanted a new build as we wouldn’t need to do any work and could move straight in. We fell in love with Church View on our first visit. The development has all the essential shops and a doctor’s surgery nearby and we decided it was the perfect place to call home.”

Gemma and Josh used the government-backed Help to Buy: Equity Loan to help secure their home and haven’t looked back since moving in. Gemma said: “The ‘Canford’ is exactly what we were looking for. It has two good-sized double bedrooms and a large garden which can be unusual to find with new builds. There is a park directly opposite our home which we cannot wait to see Elsie play in and enjoy.”

Commenting on their buying journey with Taylor Wimpey, Josh said: “We first registered our interest online and within the hour had been contacted by the very helpful sales team. They explained the whole process to us, from reserving to completion. We explained our situation and the team assured us that they would try and get a completion so we could move in before Elsie arrived. Any queries that we had were responded to within a day and we were never left waiting without any answers.”

Gemma added: “The sales team went above and beyond to make our move as smooth as possible. We have developed a great relationship with them and they even sent us their congratulations after Elsie was born.”

The couple used a variety of online tools whilst waiting for their home to be completed including a video tour and Touchpoint, Taylor Wimpey’s customer portal. Gemma said: “We were able to keep up-to-date with the build process and choose the finishes for our new home without actually having to visit, which was great! We also went to a home demonstration tour where everything about the house was explained to us.

“Buying your first home can be extremely stressful. Taylor Wimpey made the whole process smooth and stress-free and we cannot wait to see what the future holds for us and watch our family grow.”
