New Build Home Is A Knockout

Posted 13 October 2021 by Helen Christie

Jacqueline and her husband, Adrian, say they feel completely at home in their new home and the community ticks all the boxes...

A new build home wasn’t even a contender when Jacqueline Wolahan was looking to move, but the moment she spotted the ‘Grantham End’ townhouse at Ledsham Garden Village, the gloves were off.

“We stumbled on Ledsham Garden Village after looking for two years,” says Jacqueline, 52, a business manager for a healthcare provider. “We’d sold our house in Upton and moved to Neston, the idea being to rent short-term while we looked – but then we couldn’t find anything. We wanted space and openness and we didn’t think we’d find that in a brand new home and development, but the moment we drove into Ledsham Garden Village we just fell in love with it. It has all the space we wanted, even the roads are wider, and there are lovely play areas and greens.”

Jaqueline has joined a community Facebook group that has allowed her to get to know her neighbours and even partake in boxercise classes on the village green.

Jacqueline and Adrian, 59, a site manager for another housebuilder, have got two sons, Luke, 25, and Thomas, 32, who works in the Netherlands but still returns home regularly. So, as well as space outside, they needed space inside as well.

“And the three floors of the Grantham give us that,” says Jacqueline. “The top floor is like a suite. That’s like our escape room, you feel like you’re away from the hustle and bustle of everything else, and I’ll often go up and sit in my armchair and read if the boys are watching the football.”

Jacqueline also says that the rest of the home is so well-used and planned.

“The sitting room is big and the kitchen diner is a really flexible space – in fact because we don’t tend to sit round a dining table together, we have got a corner sofa and another television in this space, so it’s a kitchen/TV room for us. The Grantham allowed for that flexibility.

“There are three bedrooms and a bathroom on the first floor and that means there’s a bedroom for each of the boys and the third room we have as an office-cum-guest room. Luke currently works from home so he works in there and there is a sofa bed should anyone come to stay.”

Jacqueline and Adrian’s room has an en-suite shower room and, taking over the whole of the top floor, has space for a sitting area.

“I’m impressed with all the fittings and the appliances which are all top end. We have had a Redrow home in the past and I was always impressed with the standard but it’s got even better – the high ceilings, the tall skirting boards… it’s that going the extra mile.”

A number of four-bedroom mid-Grantham homes are currently available from £263,995 at Hawthorn Court, within Ledsham Garden Village, including ‘Readymade’ Granthams which are virtually complete and come with valuable extras like flooring and landscape features.

No fewer than eight fully furnished show homes can be viewed at Ledsham Garden Village, including a fully furnished Grantham just opened, with visitors asked to make an appointment before visiting.
