Couple Swap The City For Sunshine Of East Kent

Posted 25 September 2020 by Keith Osborne

First-time buyers Terry and Sandra have moved from London to Kent to enjoy more space and proximity to family...

Lockdown has led to an unparalleled shift in what buyers want from their home, with many on the hunt for larger gardens and to experience the English countryside, following the success of remote working. Sandra and Terry Turner decided now was the perfect time to purchase with Pentland Homes at Mulberry Place, in New Romney, Kent to get a taste of what the countryside has to offer. Properties at Mulberry Place are available from £280,000.

Sandra, a care worker for the NHS and her husband Terry, a pub owner, decided to make the move from Wandsworth, in south London, to Mulberry Place. The married couple were looking to experience the charm of country living, spend more time outdoors exploring the nearby coast and move closer to Sandra’s mum.

The Turners initially purchased a three-bedroom home at a nearby development but changed their minds after visiting Mulberry Place. Sandra said: “We initially put down an offer at another development in the area. We were looking to move away from London and to be closer to my mum. She heard about Pentland Homes through friends who lived at the development and insisted we take a look around as she had heard nothing but great things.

“The house we had put an offer on was a three-bedroom, however after visiting Mulberry Place we instantly fell in love with the two-bedroom home one of the other residents kindly showed us. The minute we entered we noticed the house felt a lot bigger and we preferred the layout, so we decided to pull our original offer and chose a larger two-bed from Pentland.”

After coming to the realisation that they wanted to purchase at Mulberry Place the couple began the sales process with Pentland. Terry commented: “We were a bit nervous as it was our first time buying a home, especially following the amount of disruption caused by COVID-19.

“Pentland kept us in the loop at all times, they were especially accommodating, and nothing seemed too much trouble for them, you can tell they are a family business. We were first-time buyers, so the process was alien to us, but Audrey and the rest of the sales team guided us through each stage, we were very grateful.”

The CliftonThe 'Clifton' at Mulberry Place

The Turners purchased the ‘Clifton’ house type, a semi-detached two-bedroom house spanning 818 sq ft with two parking spaces, garage and large garden. Sandra commented: “I was blown away when we first opened the front door. The quality of the finishing is exceptional and even better than I was expecting. I love the big window in the guest bedroom, it lets a fantastic amount of light in.

Terry added: “The garage is a real stand out for me, we can get into it from our garden, which is particularly convenient.”

Sandra continued: “I would highly recommend Pentland and would certainly buy from them again. We have been joking with my mum about selling her place and all of us moving into one of the lovely four-bedroom homes at the end of our road!”

Mulberry Place is surrounded by charming agricultural fields, which offer wonderful walking routes and is just over a mile from the picturesque beaches of Greatstone and Littlestone. The stretch of coast near the development is well-known as one of the best places for sunseekers in the country due to the exceptional levels of sunshine each year compared to the rest of the UK.

Despite the rural surroundings Ashford International is a short drive away which provides High Speed connections to London and Paris, with St Pancras just 36 minutes away.

Properties at Mulberry Place are available from £280,000.
