Couple Upsize With The Same Housebuilder
Living in a home in an early phase of Pentland Homes’ Mulberry Place in New Romney, Kent and needing more space, Nick Davies and Amber Squires-Quinn chose to stay loyal to the housebuilder and upsized to one of the brand new homes at the same development.
Nick is a firefighter that volunteers with his unit to back up the NHS and South East ambulance service when required during the current COVID-19 crisis. The couple were so impressed with their first home that they looked further than the next phase of the development.
He commented: “I’ve lived in the area for around 15 years and love the proximity of the seaside and countryside, it’s the best of both worlds. When Amber and I were on the lookout to buy for the first time together, we heard that Pentland Homes were building in the area, so we were quick to snap up one of the new homes. We knew that, because of the quality of their builds, they would sell out quickly.”
“As with any family, the need for more space becomes greater. When discussing where to go next, my partner and I didn’t want to move from the area as our work and family are nearby; the schools up the road are also excellent and we felt we had everything we needed on our front door.”
The couple came to the realisation that they didn’t want to move, so what to do next? Nick comments: “We loved our first home so much, we just didn’t want to leave, there was no competition in terms of quality, design and location. When construction of the second phase of Mulberry Place began, we immediately got in touch with Pentland Homes again for a viewing.
“Upon viewing our second home we knew it was a done deal, we didn’t need to look at any other homes or developments. The house looked fantastic it had a spacious garden with more than enough room for our family and the finish was of an extremely high standard.”
They’ve moved to the ‘Arundel’, a detached three-bedroom, two-bathroom house with 1,296 sq ft of living space, a large turfed garden, a single garage and two parking spaces.

The couple moved into their completed home in January 2020. Four months on from the move, they are delighted with their new home and the extra space it’s given them to expand as a family.
Nick added: “Our home is a two-minute walk from the outstanding Kent countryside and a five-minute drive to the seaside, it’s perfect. We can’t wait to watch our family grow-up in Mulberry Place. With such excellent schools just up the road and a large family garden for us to have summer BBQs for years to come I see this as a home for the long-term.”
“I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Pentland Homes to friends and family. Throughout the move their Customer Care was incredibly helpful and even when we had a few snagging issues after the move, they arranged for their specialist contractors to fix the problems promptly.”
The third phase of Mulberry Place comprises of 28 homes ranging from two- to four-bedroom properties. Buyers can expect bespoke kitchens, open-plan layouts, bedrooms with built-in wardrobes or cupboards, underfloor heating on the ground floor, low energy lighting, USB charger points, fibre broadband infrastructure and Sky Q-enabled TV wiring system.
Mulberry Place is surrounded by charming agricultural fields, which offer wonderful walking routes and is just over a mile from the picturesque beaches of Greatstone and Littlestone. Despite the rural surroundings Ashford International is a short drive away which provides High Speed rail connections to London and Paris, with St Pancras just 36 minutes away.
